IFC variety comedy series “Sherman’s Showcase” is returning for a second season on the network along with AMC+ on October 26, and the full guest lineup has been announced, headlined by Egot winner and series executive producer John Legend and “Insecure” and “Rap Sh!t” creator Issa Rae. IFC announced the news on Wednesday during AMC Networks’ day at the TV Critics Assn. press tour.

Superstore vet Lauren Ash is trading big box stores for the newsroom: The actress has joined ABC’s midseason comedy Not Dead Yet, which stars Gina Rodriguez as Nell Stevens, a self-described disaster who takes a job writing obituaries.

Per our sister site Deadline, Ash will play the series-regular role of Lexi, who is the daughter of a wealthy newspaper owner and recently appointed editor. She is described as comedically out of touch with how normal people live, thanks to her upbringing in the rarefied world of boarding schools and private planes.

Hey, "NCIS" fans. We've got some interesting news for you guys in regards to the upcoming episode 4 that's due to air next week. CBS recently put out an official press release for the episode. In it, is a little teaser description of what's in store. We've learned that we're going to see a new female agent arrive on the scene. This had already been reported a few weeks back. But now, it's finally time to see her in action! The upcoming episode 4 is entitled, "Skeleton Crew," and it's going to feature the arrival of NCIS Special Agent Jacqueline "Jack" Sloane (above right). She's played by actress Maria Bello. CBS' description tells us that Director Vance will welcome her aboard at some point during this episode. They also described Jacqueline as being a forensic Psychologist that Vance lobbied to get transferred from California to the headquarters. Despite the fact that he’s living in a warped alternate version of the reality you and I know, you can’t stop listening to the way a narcissistic, zombie-like Jake Gyllenhaal puts people in their place. You know immediately that this typically 180-pound man – who shed 20 pounds to become the gaunt Lou Bloom and is hungry both literally and figuratively – is more than an odd bird. He clearly exhibits sociopathic behavior and that side of him is certainly disturbing, but there’s another side I actually find refreshing.

Dan Gilroy makes his directorial debut from his own script, a clear-eyed vision of a modern society that favors fear over substance, and what is for sale over what is moral. Jake Gyllenhaal and Rene Russo star in ‘Nightcrawler,’ about an unscrupulous videographer trolling the streets of Los Angeles for bloody crime-scene footage he can sell to a local TV news operation. It also stars Bill Paxton, James Huang and a raft of current and former Los Angeles TV news anchors and reporters, including Kent Shocknek, Pat Harvey and Sharon Tay.
