“Heels” has set its Netflix launch date.

The streamer announced Wednesday that the Starz series, which was canceled after two seasons in September 2023, will become available on Netflix on Sept. 15. Both seasons of the series will drop on that date. Netflix had previously announced in April that it had licensed the series. “Heels” aired its first season on Starz in 2021, with the second season following in 2023.

That is good news for fans of the show, which followed the professional wrestlers of the Duffy Wrestling League, a small independent promotion in Georgia. Jack Spade (Stephen Amell) inherited the league from his father and now struggles to keep it afloat while also trying to take it to the next level.

Both seasons of the drama about the world of small-town pro wrestling will premiere on the streamer Sunday, September 15.

Starz canceled the series in 2023. In April, Netflix and Lionsgate Worldwide Television Distribution Group agreed to a licensing agreement for the two seasons of the series that stars Stephen Amell, Alexander Ludwig, Allen Maldonado, Alison Luff, Chris Bauer, Kelli Berglund, Mary McCormack, Robby Ramos, Trey Tucker, Roxton Garcia, and James Harrison.

Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler’s “50 First Dates” is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and the former dropped a surprise revelation on her eponymous daytime talk show by sharing the original ending to the 2004 romantic-comedy classic. The film was not supposed to end in with a definitive happily ever after for main characters Henry (Sandler) and Lucy (Barrymore).

“Something that always sticks in my mind is the original ending of ’50 First Kisses,’ as it was called at the time,” Barrymore said. “Yeah, it was a drama set in Seattle. The original ending was her saying, ‘You should go and live your life, because this is no life here. The WWE alum confirmed that he snuck his signature Bautista Bomb into a fight scene in his new action comedy sequel My Spy: The Eternal City, which is now available to stream on Prime Video.

“I just wanted to put it in,” Bautista told ComicBook.com. “We were working on that fight scene and I was like, ‘Oh man this would be fun.’ And now, it’s kind of become my obsession. In an interview with People, Farris was asked what it would take for her to return to the franchise for a new installment, to which she emphatically replied, “Well, money!”

Review: My Spy originally debuted at the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic after being pulled from release in August 2019. With mediocre reviews, the Dave Bautista-led action-comedy was solid family entertainment when audiences sorely needed new things to watch. Four years later, Dave Bautista and Chloe Coleman have reunited for a sequel that is bigger and better than the original but still nowhere near as good as it should be.

The James Bond jetpack sequence in “Thunderball” (1965) was a cheesy-awesome thing that was like, “Whoa! The future will be jetpacks!” “My Spy the Eternal City” opens like a Bond film, or maybe a movie whose goal is to make the “Kingsman” series look weighty. Deadline hears that another remake of the film, which originally starred Burt Reynolds in 1974 and was remade starring Adam Sandler in 2005, is in the works at Paramount Pictures. Rodney Barnes, who was an exec producer and writer on HBO’s Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, is writing.

It comes from Gunpowder & Sky, whose CEO Van Toffler was an exec producer on the 2005 version when he worked at then-MTV owner Viacom. Toffler is producing with former MTV Films boss David Gale, who reunited with Toffler at Gunpowder & Sky and who also exec produced the Sandler version.

Starz is canceling four of its series, Variety has learned exclusively. Specifically, “Heels,” “Run the World,” and “Blindspotting” will not get new seasons at the cable network, while “The Venery of Samantha Bird” Season 1 is being scrapped without airing.

“Heels,” “Run the World,” and “Blindspotting” all recently aired their second season at Starz, while “The Venery of Samantha Bird” was in production on its first season. Production was shut down, however, at the onset of the WGA strike. It was reported at the time that only two episodes of the first season were left to shoot.

“The Venery of Samantha Bird” was to star Katherine Langford as the title character. Per the official logline, “Samantha, while visiting family in New England, reconnects with her childhood sweetheart and falls headlong into a seemingly perfect storybook romance. But the couple’s picture-perfect love story isn’t as sweet as it seems on the surface.

The teaser for Starz’s Heels season two episode two confirms that Crystal is going to climb back into the ring. The promo for “The Journey is the Obstacle” also shows Ace away from Duffy and continuing with his own adventure. The official trailer for “Heels” Season 2 is finally here, and it’s clear we’re in for an emotional ride.

The sophomore season, which premieres July 28 on Starz, picks up after Jack Spade (Stephen Amell) has been through the ringer in his personal life after parting ways with his family. Meanwhile, his brother, Ace (Alexander Ludwig), is nowhere to be found.

“Who am I? A man who’s wife and son have left him and doesn’t know where is brother is,” Spade says in the trailer. “I don’t know what I have to do to find the guy that I was before, [but] I’m gonna figure it out.”

While Jack — and fans of the family-owned wrestling organization — question how to move forward without his brother at his side, Jack leans on his Duffy Wrestling League (Dwl) family as the group battles outside threats and Jack steps back into the ring.

Starz has released the first full trailer for “Heels” Season 2.

The new season of the pro wrestling drama will drop on July 28 at midnight on the Starz App before its linear debut on Starz at 10 p.m.Et/Pt that same day.

In the trailer, Jack Spade (Stephen Amell) is dealing with the fallout from the events of the Season 1 finale, including a complete breakdown of his relationship with his brother Ace (Alexander Ludwig) as well as with his wife Staci (Alison Luff). Meanwhile, Crystal (Kelli Berglund) is itching to defend the Dwl championship in the ring, while Charlie Gully (Mike O’Malley) is out for revenge against Jack and the Dwl.

Starz’s wrestling drama Heels will finally return for a second season on July 28, 2023. Season one, starring Stephen Amell (Arrow) and Alexander Ludwig (Vikings), debuted in August 2021 and wrapped up its eight-episode season in October 2021. New season two episodes will debut on Fridays at midnight on the Starz app and at 10pm Et/Pt on Starz.

Jack Nicholson has had one of the more varied careers in Hollywood. Anna Faris, Craig Robinson and Flula Borg are joining the “My Spy” franchise, with all three comedy vets signing up for “My Spy: The Eternal City” at Amazon Studios.

Director Pete Segal is returning to helm the sequel, which reunites franchise stars Dave Bautista and Chloe Coleman alongside scene-stealers Kristen Schaal and Ken Jeong.

The follow-up concerns a now teenage Sophie (Coleman) convincing JJ (Bautista) to chaperone her school choir trip to Italy where they both unwittingly end up pawns in an international terrorist plot targeting CIA chief David Kim (Jeong) and his son, Collin – who’s also Sophie’s best friend.

Filmmaker Jonah Feingold has always been charmed by the idea of happily ever after. But as a hardened New Yorker, born and raised in Manhattan, he’s not naive enough to believe that’s always the way a love story ends.

In his first film, the modern romantic comedy “Dating and New York,” which follows two commitment-phobic millennials, he let audiences fall for the central couple (played by Jaboukie Young-White and Francesca Reale) for 90 minutes before breaking them up in the final seconds of the story. After the movie, which premiered at Tribeca Film Festival in 2021, was released by IFC Films to the world, he recalls getting a few angry emails about the ending.

“I don’t think, in a modern New York dating world, they would end up together,” Feingold, 32, says over coffee at Manhattan’s Marlton Hotel. “I was just trying to be honest.”
