Copenhagen-based Dr Sales has boarded the thought-provoking youth series “Get a Life” (“Stadig ikke død”) produced by one of Denmark’s longest running shingles, Nimbus Film, credited for the cult series “The Bridge” and last year’s biggest Danish movie hit “A Lucky Man”.

The seven-part YA series, helmed by Daniel Kragh Jacobsen (“The Summerdahl Murders”) premiered on the Danish pubcaster’s streamer Dr TV Jan. 20.

Fred Sirieix-hosted Remarkable Places to Eat has moved from the BBC to Channel 4. In a move that has become more commonplace in recent years, Channel 4 has commissioned the third season of Outline Productions’ format, which has been partly funded by Italian beer brand Birrificio Angelo Poretti. In Remarkable Places to Eat, British chefs and restaurateurs take First Dates host Sirieix to a city in the UK or abroad that is home to three of the restaurants where they most love to eat. Nimbus Film, the Newen Studios-owned Danish production company, has bought a stake in Tall and Small, the outfit behind hit Netflix series such as “The Rain,” “Nisser” and “Chosen.”

Besides Tall and Small and Nimbus Studios, Newen Studios’ growing footprint in Scandinavia also includes Anagram, a Swedish/Norwegian production company, and the Danish banner Real Lava ApS.

Tall and Small was founded by author Jannik Tai Mosholt and producer Christian Potalivo in 2020. Under the new partnership, Nimbus Film takes over a minority stake of Tall and Small, while Tai and Mosholt will remain majority shareholders.

Nimbus Film, founded by CEO Birgitte Hald and producer Bo Ehrhardt in 1993, is behind a flurry of prestige movies, including the Cannes prizewinning “Festen” and “The Bridge,” Denmark’s biggest sales hit, as well as “A Lucky Man” which was released in theaters in 2022. Newen Studios owns 33 of Nimbus Film.

Exclusive: Snabba Cash and The Rain star Evin Ahmad is to lead Netflix’s upcoming female-led action adventure series Palomino, with filming kicking off in Barcelona later this year.

The Swedish-Kurdish actress, a rising talent, will play Erin Collantes in the show from The Crown producer Left Bank Pictures, a British teacher in Spain who finds herself caught up in a supermarket robbery. When one of the robbers claims to recognize her, her life threatens to unravel and in Palomino, a town of secrets, she must fight to clear her name and protect her family.

Ahmad has made her name in a string of Scandi Netflix shows and Palomino will be her first streaming breakout beyond the region.

“Survival Squad: We’ll see you in 2020 for the third and final season,” the official Twitter account for the series tweeted Tuesday.

The Danish Netflix original drama “The Rain” has been renewed for a third season, which will also be the show’s last.

Netflix made the announcement in a tweet sent out Wednesday. The series is Netflix’s first Danish original series and takes place six years after a brutal virus carried by the rain wipes out almost all humans in Scandinavia. In the aftermath, two Danish siblings emerge from the safety of their bunker to find all remnants of civilization gone. Soon they join a group of young survivors and together set out on a quest through an abandoned Scandinavia, searching for any sign of life.

Netflix has renewed its Danish sci-fi thriller “The Rain” for a second season, the streaming giant announced Wednesday. The news comes less than a month after the eight-episode first season debuted on Netflix on May 4. The second season will shoot later this year for a 2019 launch.

The first Danish original series commissioned by Netflix, “The Rain” follows two young siblings who embark on a perilous search for safety after a brutal virus wipes out most of the population.

Netflix has renewed “The Rain” for a second season, the streaming giant announced Wednesday.

The series is Netflix’s first Danish original series. The series will go back into production later this year, with the second season slated to launch in 2019.

In Netflix’s post-apocalyptic series “The Rain,” the pernicious precipitation is deadly to most of Scandinavia and has a massive impact on anyone else who’s survived. For Rasmus Andersen (Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen), living through the (un)natural disaster has a traumatic effect on him, especially when he understands that although he’s resistant to the virus that’s carried in the raindrops, and therefore he could be the key to developing a vaccine, he’s also a carrier of a mutated strain that is even more devastating than the original.

Lille, France — Netflix bowed its first Danish original, “The Rain,” one of the most awaited of Series Mania’s competition contenders, on Saturday evening, at the French drama series festival.

Produced by Denmark’s Miso Film, which also has the buzzed up “Warrior” in competition, and co-created by Jannick Tal Mosholt, whose writing credits include four episodes of “Borgen” Season 3, “The Rain” drew a big and appreciative crowd of 1,200-plus mainly 20 or 30-something Lille spectators who packed out the lower half of Lille’s 2,000-seat Nouveau Siecle.

The end of the world is pretty terrifying, no matter how it happens. In the upcoming Netflix series “The Rain,” the main culprit is a deadly downpour that wipes out most of Scandinavia’s population.

People outrunning killer weather isn’t entirely new in apocalypse stories (just ask Jake Gyllenhaal), but it looks like this show is more concerned with what happens years later, after two children who survived the initial attack venture back out into the world to find companions. Netflix has ordered a first season of Scandinavian thriller The Rain from Miso Film.

Written by Borgen’s Jannik Tai Mosholt, the series is the first Netflix original out of Scandinavia and it will premiere in all Netflix territories in 2018.

Ten years after a brutal virus has wiped out most of the population, it follows two siblings on a search for safety only guided by their father’s notebook about the virus and the hazards of this new world. They join another group of young survivors, who quickly realise that the real danger comes from within.

Mosholt will be showrunning alongside producer Christian Potalivo, with the two creating the show alongside Esben Toft Jacobsen.
