John Plumpis

John Plumpis was recently seen as Christopher Plummer's prompter and
confidant in director Erik Canuel's two actor film BARRYMORE which
debuted at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival. He has been
associated with the project since 1998, touring the play across the US
and in Canada following Christopher Plummer's Tony Award winning run on
Broadway. This past winter he was honored with an invitation from Mr.
Plummer to revive the play for a Toronto engagement and the subsequent
film.
A sought after actor on American stages, Mr. Plumpis works regularly in classics (including 24 Shakespearean productions), modern dramas, comedies, and musicals.
For over 5 years he played Timon in the national tour of THE LION KING directed by Julie Taymor. He also toured in the national company of Neil Simon's LAUGHTER ON THE 23RD FLOOR directed by Jerry Zaks. He has appeared in multiple Off-Broadway productions, and is a member of the acclaimed Off-Broadway troupe The Actors' Company Theatre (17 productions). In New York he has been seen at the Roundabout, Playwrights Horizons, Primary Stages, and the Mint Theatre, among others.
Regional theatre credits include: The Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington DC, Yale Rep, Portland Center Stage, Pioneer Theatre Company, Cleveland Playhouse, PlayMakers Rep, Missouri Rep, and Shakespearean festivals across the country.
Internationally he toured with Japan's Suzuki Company of Toga.
Television and film work includes: "Law and Order: SVU," "7th Heaven," New York based daytime dramas, and the feature "'Til There Was You."
He received his training at the University of Delaware Professional Theatre Training Program, and is a frequent guest lecturer at universities, as well as the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. Some of his thoughts on the Theatre have been published in the Northwest Theatre Review.
Upcoming projects include productions of THE TEMPEST and OUR COUNTRY'S GOOD.
