Whether or not it was Jean-Luc Godard who actually said it, there’s a long-held maxim that “All you need to make a movie is a girl and a gun.”
But what about podcasts? On the production end, Chris Kelly has an idea.
“I’ve been doing this kind of fake stuff for awhile. There’s only three types of rooms that you ever need. You need a quiet room that’s dead, that can sound like a bedroom, a closet. Then you’ve got your medium size room that’s like a kitchen or a foyer. Then there’s your large room. Once you get to that large-sized room, if you’ve got it,...

You know that scene in Back To The Future where Marty McFly busts out some rock n' roll at the dance and everyone looks at him like he's standing there in his underwear? This is that moment in real life. Kraftwerk, who are widely regarded as pioneers of electronic music, play to a confused crowd in 1970 who are stuck between rhythmic clapping and bewilderment. To be fair, the concerts are largely the same now, except maybe with more drugs and light shows. Check out the video below, and have a laugh at the confused faces in the audience as these guys play.

Well, a lot of times, ‘Warcraft‘ did make me feel like I was watching a video game. Not playing one – just watching one. One I didn’t like at all, had no interest in, and most importantly, wasn’t playing! The effects and the graphics, while often quite skilled and good, and often felt like they were reasonable images I would come across–when playing a video game. I don’t know whether that’s a compliment to the movie or the game, but either way, I don’t think it helped improve the movie much.

Diwali – This is that season of the year when biggest of the films are most awaited by audiences across the country. The phenomenon has continued to build strong for over a couple of decades now, so much so that every film that arrives in the festive season is being looked at as the next Blockbuster in the offering.
Ajay Devgn has been one of the superstars to have lapped on to this phenomenon well for a decade now. What started back in 2008 [Golmaal Returns] is pretty much leading to something even bigger in 2017 [Golmaal Again], what with fourth in the Golmaal franchise all set for a major success.
Ever since the release of the second installment of Golmaal, Ajay Devgn has aimed to book the Diwali slot on a regular note. All The Best, Golmaal 3, Son of Sardaar and Shivaay have arrived one after another and each of these films has earned good moolah,...

As horror fans, we are constantly seeking out the new and the different. Because the genre is marked by so much sameness—sequels, franchises, remakes, copies of copies—it can sometimes be a challenge to find those horror films that truly carve out their own space. They don’t even have to be great movies, necessarily; many times, “different” is enough to make us happy.
With that in mind, here are 10 horror movies currently available on the terrific streaming service Shudder that are, if nothing else, different from almost anything else you’ll watch this October. They vary in quality from title to title, but what even the roughest among them lacks in technical polish, it more than makes up for in sheer maniac insanity. After you’ve cycled through all your favorites this October, why not add a little Wtf to your lineup?

Though it’s clear The Hitman’s Bodyguard, starring Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds, is built to be action-comedy comfort food, it’s a bit too comfortable for its own good. Directed by Patrick Hughes (responsible for the underseen gem Red Hill), there are more than a few bright spots here unfortunately undermined by a laborious third act finale and a lingering cynicism that leaves a bad taste by the time the credits roll.
A couple of years after top-rated bodyguard Michael Bryce (Reynolds) lost a high-profile client on his watch, he finds himself slumming it with sleazy corporate gigs while pining for both his once-promising career and romance with Interpol agent Amelia Roussel (Elodie Yung). After Roussel’s team is ambushed while transporting infamous hitman Darius Kincaid (Jackson) to testify against the evil leader of Belarus (Gary Oldman), she turns to her ex-flame to help get the job done.

This might just turn out to be a faulty light for Salman Khan and Kabir Khan. After much-high anticipation, Salman Khan’s annual Eid blockbuster which was expecting to take the throne away from Baahubali at the Box Office, opened with a slow start this weekend. The war drama, which stars Salman Khan as Laxman Prasad aka Tubelight, featuring brother Sohail Khan and Chinese actress Zhu Zhu in the lead, opened to lower ratings from the critics as well as the audiences, thereby proving a dismal start in its opening week. It is also one of the lowest Box Office openings for any Salman Khan movie till date. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the movie managed to collect Inr 21 Crores on the opening Friday. Till date, Salman’s Sultan has been his highest Eid blockbuster. Speaking about the dismal start of the movie, Salman Khan said that he was...

Bones signs off on Tuesday, after 12 seasons of crime solving, evidence examining, blood, guts and, most importantly, bones. But at the core of the long-running Fox procedural -- the “heart of the matter,” if you will -- was a partnership between forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz).
From their first episode together, Brennan and Booth’s dynamic was electric, and while the will-they-or-won’t-they of it all took nearly seven seasons to sort out (more if you count that they don’t actually tie the knot until season nine), their relationship kept fans hooked for all 245 episodes. We watched Brennan wrestle with her feelings as Booth looked for love, saw them lay it all on the line only to yank it back again, and finally, at long last, got to witness their happy ending. Two kids and countless hurdles later, they’re still going strong.

Wba champion Danny Jacobs has had to endure his fair share of battles both in and outside the ring.
Jacobs, whose goes by ‘Miracle Man,’ has already beat cancer, something he says has prepared him for his next big fight this Saturday against his Gennady Golovkin at Madison Square Garden for HBO’s pay-per-view fight.
“I definitely think I am a more mentally strong fighter and I’m better all around,” Jacobs told the Associated Press. “He’s not cancer, not a life-threatening situation. This is a man coming to inflict pain on you.”

Sundance 2017 may have already wrapped up, but some of the highlights from last year’s festival are still, slowly, making their way to theaters across the country. Sure, Oscar may be on everyone’s mind, and cinephiles are either catching up with nominees that are finally making the rounds or anxiously awaiting those films we’ll be talking about one full year from now, but there are a cavalcade of new releases that, sadly, went underrated during their festival runs.
One such film is the newest feature from Treeless Mountain director So Yong Kim. Entitled Lovesong, Kim’s picture is now making its theatrical debut in New York, with a rollout imminent.
The film stars Riley Keough as a mother of one and a wife to a husband who is less than present. We watch as she tends to her energetic youngster and yet slowly become less and less sure...

MTV's Sweet/Vicious is a frank, grounded exploration of a harrowing subject. Here's our episode 1 review...
This review contains spoilers.
1.1 The Blueprint
Sweet/Vicious, MTV's latest attempt at a mainstream hit to match outgoing shows Teen Wolf and Faking It, begins with a masked vigilante beating and threatening a college student in his dorm room. Complete with voice-changer and noble cause, this could be a scene from any number of superhero series on television. The twist? The assailant is a tiny, blonde sorority girl, and her target is a rapist.
Campus rape is a subject that has been creeping into television at a disappointingly slow pace. Veronica Mars spent a whole half-season on it back in 2007, and last year Switched At Birth tackled it with grace and thoughtfulness (I'm sure there are more examples I'm unaware of). Of course, Netflix's Jessica Jones was also a breakthrough moment for exploring consent on screen.

Currently lensing in Cleveland, Ohio, it’s been quite the globe-trotting journey for Fast 8.
From the sun-scorched streets of Cuba to Arkanes, a remote town on the coast of Iceland, F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) has ensured the franchise’s rip-roaring sense of adventure remains intact for his maiden entry in Universal’s series.
He’s been documenting Fast 8‘s travels, too, using Instagram to establish something of an open dialog between the fanbase and the team guiding the sequel to its April 2017 release date. The latest media dump focus on the movie’s base of operations in Iceland, which also heralded the construction of the largest blue screen in Fast and Furious history.

During a March 24 wake in Killorglin, Ireland, a room of mourners paid tribute to their lost friend, Ger “Farmer” Foley with a rousing performance of “Mr Brightside” from The Killers. The room was led by Foley’s buddy Brian O’Sullivan, who does everything from take his shirt off to stage dive. According to the BBC, Foley passed away at just 45 years old from cystic fibrosis. Before breaking into song, O’Sullivan said of Foley, “He was the salt of the earth, he will never be replaced and we will remember him forever in our lives…I think that the most appropriate song that you can get for this man is Mr. Brightside." The video, which has been seen approximately 1 million times, has since gotten the attention of The Killers themselves.

I was graced with the opportunity to talk shop on The Alchemist Cookbook, a SXSW gem that saturated all three of its screenings with starved festival foodies, with writer/director Joel Potrykus. Buzzfeed has genred it horror, but I'd be damned before I stuck the film a label. Joel and I talk a little about what happened behind the scenes on this divisive, unignorable beast, of a film. Take a look.
Joel lays it out for us:
So I was here two years ago with Buzzard, and it got a great reception... And the one place we knew this could exist at is, again, South By Southwest. Because it’s super uncommercial, and not at all for the mainstream and I’m super stoked to bring it here. I wanted to do something totally different from Buzzard. No white people, no cities... But, people tell me, it still has the...

A work of documentation, as opposed to a pure documentary, A Space Program offers a vision of what The Martian might look like as directed by the heroes of Michel Gondry’s Be Kind Rewind. Directed by Van Neistat and inspired by Tom Sachs’ large-scale installation simulating a Nasa mission to Mars in an art gallery, the film is a gleeful exploration in Diy. Sachs’ space program, first launched in 2007 in Los Angeles, was a simple mission to the moon before debuting at New York City’s Armory show in 2012. The installation is immersive, requiring audiences to move from room to room, simulating cross-cutting as the locations change from a control room to the actual mission This filmed version is a hybrid of performance documentation and narrative filmmaking, reflecting the inherent drama of the space program.

A work-in-progress screening of Sausage Party took place in Austin tonight as part of the SXSW film festival, and I'm not surprised people seem generally pleased with what they saw. The studio's asking people not to formally review the movie since it isn't finished yet, and it sounds like they still have a little over a month until they have what they would consider a "finished" film. But they're in the home stretch, certainly, so they have to be feeling pretty good about the enthusiastic response they'e gotten tonight. The red-band teaser trailer is also available now, so you can get an idea what to expect. The film is a very, very R-rated animated comedy, and part of the joke is that it has to look like a real Pixar movie. That's not easy or cheap, and it's exciting to get a look at the work that's been done on the film.

So there’s a mural of David Bowie in Brixton, in South London, around the corner from where he was born and lived as a child, and naturally it has become a shrine tonight.
Obviously many people — including lots of press — had the same idea I had tonight, to visit the mural.
And in Soho, off Regent Street in Central London, the location where the cover photo for the Ziggy Stardust album was shot has also become a magnet for fans and media:
This is that cover:
It clearly wasn’t the street of swanky restaurants and bars that it is today.

This is that Golden Globe moment no one can stop talking about. Lady Gaga took home the award for best actress in a limited series or TV movie for her performance in American Horror Story: Hotel on Sunday - but it was Leonardo DiCaprio's reaction that might have won the whole night. As Gaga, 29, made her way toward the stage to claim her statuette, the actor, 41, could be seen enjoying the night, smiling and laughing. The chart-topper, coming from behind, then bumped right into the back of his chair, brushing his arm aside and giving DiCaprio quite a fright.

“Don’t Judge a Book by Its Cover” is a proverb whose simple existence proves the fact impressionable souls will do so without fail. This monthly column (with a special year-end retrospective today) focuses on the film industry’s willingness to capitalize on this truth, releasing one-sheets to serve as not representations of what audiences are to expect, but as propaganda to fill seats. Oftentimes they fail miserably.
It hasn’t been a great year for domestic movie poster design. Yes there are always a handful to admire each month, but that’s not saying much when you’re comparing them to absolute dreck.
Whereas most years I’m collecting 15-20 images and find myself exasperated trying to cull them down into a Top Ten, 2015 had me struggling to fill the #10 slot. Only maybe three or four were “musts” and the rest ended up waging a war of attrition to...

Does Star Wars: The Force Awakens live up to the hype? Short answer, no. It is, as anyone who’s never visited the galaxy far, far away (how?) watching the escalating hype for the film would think, just a movie. A fun, entertaining movie, yes, but still just a big, bombastic two hour cinema experience (and, no, not a patch on the originals).
And it’s hard to say that isn’t a little bit disappointing. After three years of constant build-up following the purchase of Lucasfilm by Disney, a damn-near faultless run of production decisions and carefully-released, deftly-angled trailers, no movie has been subject to such pre-release excitement (or at least since The Phantom Menace), yet the end result is just a rollicking space yarn. Is that it?
But, taking a step away from a world where Bb-8 is used to sell oranges, isn’t that what...

There comes a time in everyone's life when they realize that nothing lasts forever. This is that time. It's going to be painful, but we can make it through together. Now what are we talking about, exactly? We're talking about the fact that two of the most classic movies in the history of Hollywood will be leaving Netflix in just three short days. Try to keep it together. The streaming service just announced their lineup of additions and removals for the month of October and included the disturbing news: Annie Hall and The Big Lebowski will no longer be available. No longer will you be able to enjoy The Dude's wild antics. No longer will you cringe at Woody Allen's neurosis. No...

This is what I’m talking about right here. Couple this with how much I enjoyed Image’s Island and I’m having a damn good comics week.
I Loved Valiant’s Legends of the Geomancer #1 and to a lesser extent enjoyed Book of Death #1 but I wasn’t all in on the execution and presentation for the latter as I was the concept for an event level comic, and The Fall of Bloodshot offers up more of everything what I liked and was just more clean of a book overall and stands as my favorite issue of Bloodshot, which oddly is something I’ve had quite the opposite reaction to in that I’ve thought the execution of his series, Bloodshot Reborn, has been terrific but in premise it wasn’t really my personal preference.
I’m a big fan of Jeff Lemire though so I know he has...

It’s hard to believe that we have, so far, only seen 46 episodes of Homeland. By the time season four drew to a close earlier this year, we had watched Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) go from being an intelligence officer trying to prove a theory about a rescued U.S Marine, to being an absentee parent running the Islamabad CIA station during arguably the darkest fictional period in its difficult fictional history.
We’ve seen stunning action set-pieces, high drama, and epic, sweeping romance. The show has encompassed complex political issues and intrigue on a global scale, while equally – and successfully – focusing on intimate family drama. This is that rarest of beasts – a television drama series that earns every single one of its stripes.

Disney•Pixar released their new animated film, "Inside Out," into theaters today, June 19th, 2015, and all the top, major movie critics have submitted their reviews. It turns out that most of them thought it was the greatest film on Earth, giving it an overall 93 score out of a possible 100 across 41 reviews at the Metacritic.com site. The film stars: Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, Lewis Black, Mindy Kaling, Phyllis Smith, Diane Lane and Kyle MacLachlan. We've supplied blurbs from a few of the critics, below. Joe Morgenstern from the Wall Street Journal, gave it an excellent 100 score, stating: " The level of invention is so high, and the density of detail is so great, that it’s impossible to absorb everything in a single viewing." Matt Zoller Seitz over at RogerEbert.com, gave it a 100 grade as well. He stated: "The best parts of it feel truly new, even as they channel...

It’s time for a quick break from the bombastic Summer fare, and briefly enter the world of big screen biographies, a genre usually reserved for those serious cooler months, closer to awards season. In this new (for stateside audiences) release we aren’t examining the life of a figure from the annals of historical science like the recent Oscar winners The Theory Of Everything or The Imitation Game. No, we’re heading into the world of the arts (an arena for several terrific feature documentaries of late). But the subject is not from the world of fine art, like those films concerning painters such as Pollack or Surviving Picasso. Nor is this based on a music maestro like Nowhere Boy and the film still in theatres Love And Mercy (and if you’re not seen this dazzling look inside the mind and work of Brian Wilson, by all means drive,...

If "Mad Max" is "A Fistful Of Dollars" and "The Road Warrior" is "The Good, The Bad & The Ugly," then clearly "Fury Road" is George Miller's "Once Upon A Time In The West," the moment when his movies move from the archetypical to the profound. It seems impossible that George Miller has been away from live-action for 17 years. Then again, nothing about George Miller's career has ever really fit into any typical model. I always think of him as part of the Class of '82, the directors whose work really crystallized in what I maintain is the greatest geek movie line-up of all time. Most of those guys came out of the system, either through the Roger Corman training program or moving from TV to movies, trained at southern California film schools so they all had similar skill sets. Miller was different, though. He was never really one of them.

George R.R Martin dropped another excerpt/sample chapter from The Winds of Winter today and I just wanted to jot down some thoughts on the Alayne/Sansa Pov, as we go back to the Eyrie and see what Petyr has brewing, as the Vale has for the most part been lounging during The War of the Five Kings. I know I said more Game of Thrones related content was coming, but I didn’t mean quite this soon when I mentioned it this morning.
I think what I’ve always really liked about Sansa is that I think there’s a clear sense and record of progression. Not only is Sansa now aware of the game, not only is she playing it and not just being played (because I think everyone gets played beyond their control to some extent), but she has suffered real loss that she actually had...
