Was always a Laker fan favorite, but he and Earvin "Magic" Johnson
reportedly never got along. Their strife, however, didn't keep the
Lakers from two NBA titles in 1979-1980 and 1981-1982 with the two forming
one of the most potent guard tandems in NBA history. The conflict
apparently reached a boiling point after the 1982-1983 season, when the
Lakers traded Nixon to the cross-town Los Angeles Clippers for a
first-round draft pick, which became Byron Scott. Laker fans expressed
their discontent with the trade by roundly booing Scott for most of his
early years with the team.
