The new action film (at least it is supposed to be) from Michael Bay, simply titled Ambulance, unfortunately turns out to be a long, boring slog of a ride instead of the edge-of-your-seat thriller it was more than likely intended to be.
Times have gotten hard for veteran Will Sharp (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II). He cannot cover his mounting family medical bills and looks to the one person he believes can help him out – his adoptive brother Danny (Jake Gyllenhaal). Danny’s help comes in the form of the largest bank robbery in the history of Los Angeles, which leaves Will wondering whether he’s made the correct decision.
During the heist, things go from bad to worse as Danny and Will must flee the scene of the crime in an ambulance transporting a cop wounded during the robbery. Now, with the officer and an Emt named Cam (Eiza González) in tow,...

Sonic the Hedgehog 2, the sequel to the last big blockbuster before the pandemic, opens this weekend, keeping a steady stream of dollars into the theatrical marketplace with an estimated opening of 50 million-plus, and possibly 60M.
The first movie in February 2020 broke the video game feature adaptation curse for the genre, opening to 58M over 3 days, 70M over four, and winning over die-hard fans of the Sega character. In landing a new franchise, Paramount wasn’t going to mess up the second time around and kept director Jeff Fowler on board as well screenwriters Pat Casey and John Miller, with the addition of John Whittington.
The increased stakes for the sequel come with the expansion of Sonic universe with characters Knuckles, voiced by Idris Elba, and Tails, voiced by one of the video game’s iconic voiceover performers, Colleen O’Shaughnessey. That latter piece of casting goes a long way with Sonic devotees.

Loud macho bravado oozes from each explosion-laden, mind-numbing, testosterone-overdosing shot in the grossly expensive — and often quite lucrative — filmography of primo bro director Michael Bay. While his previous empty-headed action debacle, “6 Underground,” debuted on Netflix to little fanfare in 2019, Bay’s newest big-screen entry into his pro-military, pro-police, and pro-outdated masculinity oeuvre, “Ambulance,” comes as

Say what you will about Michael Bay and his cinema bombast, but the guy knows how to make an epic thriller that usually needs to be seen on the big screen. His latest film, “Ambulance,” is a thriller based on the original story and screenplay for the 2005 Danish film “Ambulancen” written by Laurits Munch-Petersen and Lars Andreas Pedersen. He’s also convinced a pretty terrific cast to join him in his endeavor: Jake Gyllenhaal, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Eiza González.

Jake Gyllenhaal surprised his “Ambulance” co-star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II on the set of the upcoming Michael Bay action movie by taking the camera out of the filmmaker’s hand and directing scenes of the movie himself. “Ambulance” is based on the 2005 Danish film of the same name by Laurits Munch-Petersen and Lars Andreas Pedersen. The film marks Bay’s first directorial effort since Netflix’s “6 Underground” in 2019.
“There were times when he would take the camera from Mike [Bay] and then you look around and Jake is shooting the scene,” Abdul-Mateen recently told Esquire as part of the magazine’s Gyllenhaal cover story. “I had never seen anything like that before. I’m curious about those things, but I would never ask the director if I could shoot a scene.”
Abdul-Mateen said Gyllenhaal made the entire “Ambulance” set “his playground” during production. Gyllenhaal, meanwhile, said he always wondered what filming...

Looks like Jake Gyllenhaal wants in on the Michael Bay go big or go home wagon. The ‘Spider-Man: Far from Home’ actor has entered into negotiations to star in Bay’s thriller ‘Ambulance’.
The project is a remake of Laurits Munch-Petersen’s 2005 Danish psychological thriller which centres around a bank robbery involving a returned veteran from Afghanistan and his brother. However, the robbery didn’t go as planned with the brothers having no choice but to take hijack an ambulance and take a female paramedic and a patient hostage.
As the situation escalates, old wounds reopen in the relationship between the brothers as they fight to survive what seems like an impossible situation.
