Sabrina Carpenter could have never predicted that her song about coffee would explode the way that it has since it dropped in April.

When the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter decided to release “Espresso” before the summer, she figured the drink was more of a fall beverage and wouldn’t cut through the noise because of that.

“I really didn’t know if it would connect, but the sentiment and the sound of the song and the confidence that it kind of just carries along with it was something that I really believed in,” she tells The Hollywood Reporter exclusively. “So, I had literally no idea that anyone would like it, but I liked it, and that was kind of all that mattered to me in that moment, and something I try to remember over and over again.”

The hit was the most-streamed song of the year on Spotify, garnering more than 1.6 billion dreams.

The impossible-to-kill pair torments each other with chainsaws, voodoo dolls, and machetes throughout the visual — but in the accompanying behind-the-scenes video, they’re a giggling mess with hysterical fake injuries.

The Drake-Kendrick Lamar showdown will continue — at the 2024 BET Awards.

The rappers will compete in two categories at the June 30 show: best male hip-hop artist and best collaboration. In the latter category, Drake is nominated for “Rich Baby Daddy” with Sza and Sexyy Red, while Lamar is nominated for his guest verse on the remix of Beyoncé’s “America Has a Problem.”

Drake is the show’s top contender with seven nominations, thanks to his album For All the Dogs (Scary Hours Edition). Lamar didn’t release an album that was eligible this year. The Canadian rapper’s other nominations include album of the year, best male R&b/pop artist and viewer’s choice for “Rich Baby Daddy.” He’s nominated twice in the video of the year category: “Rich Baby Daddy” and his guest verse on J. I must confess, at first I had no desire to watch this film, but as a professional, I felt obligated. However, I must also confess that we were pleasantly surprised by this original musical, written and starring Jennifer Lopez, which revolves around her own life and love affairs, as one may expect.

However, “This is Me…Now: A Love Story” is not just about the romances known from magazines and television. It is a futuristic video clip with several musical numbers, each with high quality in terms of photography and set design. Although it may seem self-centered and geared towards her fans, I must admit that “This is Me…Now: A Love Story” is of great quality and production.

In the trailer, the singer navigates a sex-addict anonymous-styled meeting after friends stage an intervention, citing her three marriages as a red flag. She also dances, sings, reflects on childhood, and appears in mythological settings in the span of less than three minutes.

Ok, this one is certainly hard to categorize, but let’s give it a shot. Inspired by Jennifer Lopez’s upcoming album of the same name due in February, the film “This Is Me…Now” is a quasi-documentary with narrative elements— an intimate, fantastical, and narrative-driven reflection of her personal journey of self-healing and self-love (perhaps inspired by some of Beyonce’s most recent documentaries).

Directed by Dave Meyers, the film was written by Jennifer Lopez and Matt Walton with a story conceived by Lopez, Meyers, and Chris Shafer.
