The thing that drew me most to Between The Trees is that title itself. It’s unique and kind of intriguing and sometimes that’s all I need to get me interested in a movie… The story starts off pretty familiar to your average movie-goer. A group of friends (this time not actually young but middle-aged men) go to a cabin in the woods-like home for a get together which means they can get away from their family for a short time and have some fun. Then some strange things start happening. In this case it’s some weird creatures firing arrows at them, seemingly wanting to kill them.
What’s interesting about Between The Trees is that the human-like creatures attacking the...

There aren’t a ton of absolutes in life, but among a laundry list of things I enjoy whilst spinning around the sun, here’s three: Christopher George, private dicks, and mad scientists. And so imagine my delight when I stumbled across Escape (1971), a failed TV pilot about an ex escape artist turned P.I. who investigates, in his words, “the unexplainable.” And while the pilot doesn’t dip its toes too much into the pool of the unusual, it sure feels like that’s the way they were planning to go.
Not picked up by the network and instead broadcast on April 6th as an ABC Movie of the Week, Escape did little to swerve people away from their Hee Haw’s, All in the Family’s and 60 Minutes for the brass to reconsider putting it back on the slab. What a shame; Escape today plays as Bruce Wayne...

Besetment stars Abby Wathen (The Bay) as Amanda Millard, a young woman who takes a hotel position in a small town where she ends up fighting for her life…. Struggling and desperate for a job, Amanda takes a position at a hotel in a small town in Oregon. It’s a creepy, back country kind of town but owners Mildred Colvin and her son Billy seem nice enough at first. It’s not long before Amanda discovers their real intentions, and her struggle to make a living becomes a nightmarish fight for her life.
The tone of Besetment is set straight away during the films opening credits: creepy imagery of blood running down shower drains, fluids being injected into… something/someone, and stitches being removed,...

Back In The Spotlight: Marilyn Mason Returns To The Screen With Model Rules
Interview by Tom Lisanti
Actress Marlyn Mason, best remembered as Elvis’ leading lady in The Trouble with Girls (1969) and James Franciscus’ trusty assistant/companion on TV’s Longstreet (1971-72), has come out of a self-imposed 10-year retirement to star in Model Rules (2008) a short film directed by Ray Robison that she also produced and wrote on location in Medford, Oregon where she has been residing these past few years. In it she plays an aging artist's model who envisages being with one of the men sketching her.
The movie came from an idea Marlyn had after researching what it took to become a real life artist’s model back in 2004. She shelved the proposal but when a friend suggested she enter a Fiction Writing contest, a former writing partner, comedian Vince Valenzuela, reminded her about becoming...
