2022 was a very good year at the movies, and 2023 promises to be potentially even bigger and even more exciting. While there’s no telling which films will actually deliver, we’ve rounded up 40 of our most anticipated films coming out next year. For some, it’s the combination of director and material (Greta Gerwig and “Barbie”) that piques our interest; for others it’s an exciting sequel (“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”); and for others it’s as simple as “Nicolas Cage as Dracula.”

2022 has been such a bright year with several amazing movies but we are already looking forward to the new year. Quite frankly, it appears like 2023 promises more fun and entertainment than 2022 with several blockbusters lined up for the year — both new and returning titles.

Steven Soderbergh announced in 2021 that he would give Channing Tatum and his band of male strippers a last dance. The director is back with a follow-up to his 2015 comedy-drama “Magic Mike Xxl” titled “Magic Mike’s Last Dance.”

In this sequel, times are a bit hard for Mike Lane (Channing Tatum) so he decides to have a final dance at the request of a wealthy woman. However, the woman seems to have ulterior motives. This is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated movies of 2022.

When the first trailer for “Magic Mike’s Last Dance” dropped last month, the headlines described Channing Tatum‘s lap dance on Salma Hayek as “sexy” and “steamy.” Hayek, however, used two very different words to describe the seductive scene.

The 56-year-old actress spoke with Et’s Rachel Smith and revealed exactly what it felt like when she filmed the scene seen ’round the world. In the trailer for the third installment of the popular franchise, Tatum reprises his role as “Magic” Mike Lane, who puts his special skillset on display for Hayek’s character, a wealthy socialite.

After telling her that bartending is not really what he does, Tatum’s character proceeds to give her such a powerful show that Hayek’s character reveals the “magical moment … made me remember who I really was.” She now tells Et whether it was as steamy as everyone made the scene out to be.

Magic Mike’s Last Dance will open in theaters Feb. 10, 2023 — the beginning of Super Bowl weekend and in advance of Valentine’s Day — after abandoning an exclusive release on HBO Max.

Warner Bros. revealed the switch-up Friday.

The threequel will see Channing Tatum return as male stripper Mike Lane, a character loosely based on Tatum’s own experiences as a stripper in Florida. Salma Hayek is taking over the role previously played by Thandiwe Newton.

Newly installed Warner Bros. Discovery chief David Zaslav has made it clear he is committed to theatrical releases for high-profile films. Magic Mike’s Last Dance is expected to wrap up the series.

When the announcement came that “Magic Mike’s Last Dance,” the third movie in Channing Tatum’s male stripper franchise, had the greenlight, it was revealed the film would premiere directly on HBO Max. However, director Steven Soderbergh says a theatrical run is still on the table. “We’re talking about it,” Soderbergh told me recently while promoting the “Magic Mike Live” tour, which makes its North American debut in Miami in October. “It’s certainly hard to argue that this isn’t a movie that’s best seen in a theater, because we have the data. People, primarily women, were going in packs, in large groups, to see the ‘Magic Mike’ movies.”

Thandiwe Newton is departing the cast of the third “Magic Mike” film, “Magic Mike’s Last Dance,” and she’ll be replaced in the film by Salma Hayek, a Warner Bros. spokesperson told TheWrap.

“Thandiwe Newton has made the difficult decision to step away from the production of Warner Bros. Pictures’ ‘Magic Mike’s Last Dance’ to deal with family matters,” a spokesperson said in a statement.

According to Deadline, the Magic Mike franchise is getting a third chapter, with Channing Tatum set to return for Magic Mike's Last Dance.

Tatum played Mike Lane in the first two movies, and given the title of the new flick, it sounds like the movie will conclude the franchise.

Then again, it could lead to a TV show or spinoff movies on the streaming service.

In fact, an unscripted series titled Finding Magic Mike is set to bow on the streamer on December 16.
