“That lady is wearing a wig!” is the first thought that comes to me at the start of Parallel… Shortly thereafter, the film throws up an interesting conceit and, aside from the wig, this film is extremely professionally made. It is a sci-fi mind bender with similar ambition to Looper.
A group of friends have created a parking app, and they are trying to seal the big deal, but it all goes wrong, and they lose out. The banter among the gang is believable and funny. The characters are likable and believable as people. There is a bouncy, fun, Ocean’s 11 vibe to a lot of the gang’s hijinks.

Actress Allison Mack — best known for playing Clark Kent's friend Chloe Sullivan on the TV show Smallville — has made headlines recently for her involvement in an alleged sex cult masquerading as a self-help group called Nxivm. The group, founded by a man named Keith Raniere, was first exposed in a New York Times feature last year. But then, Frank Parlato, a former spokesman for Nxivm, claimed in his blog that Allison was second in command. In fact, he stated that she’s been running a sorority within the cult called Dos, that brands women, presides over them like they’re slaves, and recruits top performers for Keith’s harem! Believe it or not, Allison admitted to the branding, and even took credit for the horrifying idea! Keep reading for more info on the 35-year-old's life now. (Photo Credit: The CW) Where is Allison from? She was born to American parents in West Germany,...

Actress Allison Mack — best known for playing Clark Kent's friend Chloe Sullivan on the TV show Smallville — has been arrested for her role in the alleged sex cult, Nxivm. The Daily News reported that the 35-year-old was a "recruiter" that not only lured innocent women in, but also required the slaves to engage in sexual acts with the group's leader, Keith Raniere. She also allegedly gave Raniere naked photos of the slaves. Allison — who reportedly ranked right below Raniere in the cult's hierarchy — last made headlines after she was seen chasing Raniere as cops arrested him in Mexico. The group, which was founded by Raniere, was first exposed in a New York Times feature. Back then, Frank Parlato, a former spokesman for Nxivm, claimed in his blog that Allison was second in command, which turned out to be true. In fact, he stated that she was running a sorority...

“Lord Jones Is Dead” follows rival journalists Samuel (Chad Krowchuk) and Vincent (Daniel Janks), and photographer Clive (Jonathan Pienaar) as they stake out a dead-end assignment. Waiting outside of a suburban house for a woman who is alleged to have had an affair with a government minister, all three soon realize they don’t know if they’re in front of the right house or if they have even identified the right girl. Since Samuel is told by his editors not to leave without a story, and Vincent and Clive are told not to leave before Samuel does, the three settle in for a long waiting period until they decide to make the story up themselves. Watch the trailer for the film below.

The SyFy Original movie Collision Earth is just the kind of end-of-the-world disaster movie you would expect in such a Mayan-induced apocalyptic fever. Thanks to a wily comet, Mercury gets electro-magnetized by the sun and knocked off its orbit, sending it straight on a collision course to Earth. Naturally, it's left to a group of unlikely heroes to save the planet from destruction.
Fortunately, the knockoff Nasa station in the film has a program designed for just such an "Extinction Level Event." Unfortunately, it was designed by now-disgraced scientist James (Kirk Acevedo) and thus deemed unsuitable for use. James must then team up with the surviving member of the space shuttle Nautilus, Victoria (Diane Farr), that happens to be in trapped in Mercury's gravitational pull. She communicates with James via a makeshift radio designed by college students (Chad Krowchuck, Jessica Parker Kennedy) who are equally eager to help.

The nominees for the 2010 Streamys were announced today. The Streamys celebrate online television programming and this year they have a fantastic line up of nominees. Last year was the Streamys debut year and the winners included high profile shows such as Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog and the exceptional Battlestar Galactica web series The Face of the Enemy.
This year there is even more competition with some really interesting content now being released on the web rather than through more traditional media routes. Two of my favourites from this year’s nominee list are the excellent Interview Project which is presented by davidlynch.com and the slightly flawed but thoroughly enjoyable Angel of Death, created by Ed Brubaker and starring Zoe Bell, which also received a DVD release last year.
The awards ceremony takes place on April 11th 2010 and the full list of nominees is listed below with handy links...

The Arg (alternate reality game) for Riese the Series has begun, you still have time to join the winning side. But first some info on what you have to look forward to when the series kicks off in late October/early November. Riese is a steampunk-inspired (think steam-engines and goggles) series from co-creators Ryan Copple and Kaleena Kiff, who also co-executive produce and direct the series respectively, that seems closer to something airing on the Syfy network, as-opposed-to the web, based off of the production value and sci-fi standout cast—Christine Chatelain (SyFy’s Sanctuary), Ben Cotton (Harper’s Island), Sharon Taylor (Stargate: Atlantis) and Patrick Gilmore (Battlestar Galactica). Chad Krowchuk is handling the production design and taking full advantage of the picture quality of the Red One camera system with lush, yet post-apocalyptic settings and the costumes look impressively intricate.
