Zachary Levi isn’t giving up on the movie followup to his NBC series Chuck, and he says creators Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak are on board.
Levi starred in the spy dramedy from 2007 to 2012 as Chuck Bartowski, an average guy who was dragged into the world of the the CIA and Nsa to take on dangerous criminals and other threats. He’s been campaigning for an expansion of the Chuck universe since the show ended, but he recently said on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show that it might actually be coming to fruition.
“I’ve been trying to make a Chuck movie since before we even finished the show. I saw the writing on the wall, I saw a lot of the streaming stuff starting to pop up. I saw a lot of like, well, people are doing, you know, like, you know, Zach Braff, I think was crowdfunding.

Chicago – When the magnificently creative film “Dave Made a Maze” begins, it seems like another Millennial generation stab at micro budget filmmaking, with a claustrophobic set and extreme archetypes instead of characters. But then the “exploration” of the title maze starts, and suddenly “Dave” becomes a marvel of invention, tribute, hilarity and even truth.
Rating: 4.5/5.0
A passionate group of filmmakers got together with a strange idea… what if they were to send this group of archetypes into a cardboard fort that a frustrated artist has built, a group that includes his offbeat lover? And what if once inside that maze, the magic begins, as rooms become expansive and tests the will of the search party, transporting them into fantasies of their favorite adventure films from the last 40 years. Oh yeah, and there has to be a film-within-a-film that a hapless documentary crew is trying to make. Does this sound like...

The premise is silly: stunted artist who’s never finished a project in his life finds inspiration through cardboard boxes and their ability to be molded into a literal labyrinth he’s already erected virtually inside his mind to ensure he will never fail (or succeed) since such a final verdict only comes with completion. So bogged down in existential dread—and made to endure it while girlfriend Annie (Meera Rohit Kumbhani) is out-of-town for a much-needed reprieve from his slacker-infused excuses—Dave (Nick Thune) allows its weight to force him into an abyss of despair he cannot escape alone. The only avenue towards freedom is ultimately found by going farther inward. Dave must finish something, everything … anything. He must commit to the work, to Annie, and to himself.
While that all sounds like some crazy on-the-nose metaphor performed through imaginative dream, you’re only going to find yourself half right.

"If you want to survive this fantasy world, think outside the boxes." Holy mackerel, this looks amazing!! Gravitas has unveiled an official trailer for an indie comedy titled Dave Made a Maze, about an artist who builds a huge fort in his living room out of cardboard. The clever concept here is that as soon as you enter the maze, it turns into something much bigger. Dave builds the maze out of pure frustration, only to end up trapped by the "fantastical pitfalls, booby traps, and critters of his own creation." This stars Nick Thune, Meera Rohit Kumbhani, James Urbaniak, Stephanie Allynne, Kirsten Vangsness, plus Scott Krinsky. Ohh it looks like it's going to be so, so much fun, kind of like Michel Gondry meets the Duplass Brothers, or something like that. This really does seem like a certified instant cult classic. I'm ready to enter. Here's the first official...

Chuck Review, Season 5, Episode 13, “Chuck Versus the Goodbye”
Written by Chris Fedak
Directed by Robert Duncan McNeill
Airs Fridays at 8pm (Et) on NBC
After five seasons and 90 episodes, Chuck has finally reached its closing act, and the show’s primary relationship is still up in the air. Chuck Bartowski and Sarah Walker have encountered many ups and downs over the years, and their ultimate happiness is well-deserved. It’s too bad that it’s not that simple. Sarah’s still trying to recover her memories, which include the feelings that grew for Chuck. This emotional undercurrent of her search drives the finale, even when their last mission (the third one!) gets rolling. Chuck convinces Sarah to let him tag along with her to find the evil Nicolas Quinn (Angus Macfayden), but her approach is cold and clinical. A happy ending should be inevitable for the couple, but the spy...

If the series finale of Chuck wasn’t a proper farewell, I do not know what is. These final two hours of Chuck were the most beautiful love letters to the fans, cast, crew, and everyone involved in supporting Chuck over these five incredible seasons. The comedy, the action, the romance, the geek references… it all came to an end last night in the most perfect way. Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak did not disappoint. Everyone poured their heart and soul into the finale and it showed. What a beautiful ending.

Just like in the children’s tale of the “little engine that could,” Chuck was a television show that kept on chugging away against all odds and carved out a place in television history by running five seasons on the sheer will-power of its fans. Millions of Subway sandwiches later, the fans are still passionately devoted to their show. Having coined the phrases: Nerd Herd, Buy More and Captain Awesome, as well as creating a whole new dialect comprised of “the Intersect”, “flashes” and “Jeffster” and redefining what it means when a TV show is “on the bubble,” Chuck is now legendary. It not only created a universally-accepted and widely used lexicon, Chuck also introduced characters which fans fell in love with from around the globe. As the cast will soon discover, fans are not quick to forget their beloved characters and the names: Chuck, Sarah, Casey, Morgan, Ellie, Awesome,...

“Big.” “Epic.” And “very much like a movie.” According to Chuck cocreator Chris Fedak, that is what fans can expect from the NBC spy comedy’s two-hour series finale, airing this Friday starting 8/7c.
Speaking with reporters during a location shoot at a concert hall that was decked out for a sequence from the series-ender, Fedak said, “If you’ve noticed, we’ve spent a lot of money. We’re a little over budget. In fact, there may be a few people looking for me now! But it’s a long episode, and we go to a lot of different places.

In Part 2 of Zap2it's "Chuck" finale extravaganza, we talked separately with the members of Jeffster!, Vik Sahay and Scott Krinsky. Be sure to read our chat with Yvonne Strahovski and Adam Baldwin too.
There will be, arguably, more important moments in the series finale of "Chuck" than the reunion of Jeffster! for one last performance. But that final song is also arguably one of the most anticipated moments of the final episode.
We know there is a Jeffster! song in Friday's (Jan. 27) finale -- we heard a bit of playback when we watched a bit of filming in December. NBC has asked to keep the tune a secret, but we can let Vik Sahay and Scott Krinsky tell you a little bit about it.
"I really feel like the criteria must be 'What's the most difficult song for Vik to sing? That's how we'll choose our music!'" Sahay says.

Chuck began with a very special opening title, one fans will definitely appreciate especially since this was not the series finale and fans would love nothing more for familiarity come then. Perhaps the original opening awaits us in the finale episode? No matter, this week was the calm before the storm and an almost movie like opening set the tone perfectly for this week and the final episode. Embrace the movie like opening, people because this is it.

In five years, Chuck has done some of the most amazing things -- things that few other television shows could do. Despite being on the bubble at almost every season ending, Chuck always found a way to bounce in the right direction, thanks to its steadfast fanbase. Despite not being signed on for a full fifth season, it is because of the fans that we get to see these 13 episodes. Scott Krinsky and Vik Sahay acknowledged this during a recent Chuck set visit.

In “Chuck vs. Bo,” Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski) wasted no time in coming straight out about her thoughts of quitting the spy game to Chuck (Zachary Levi) and shift Carmichael Industries to an office job rather than a field job. But before this transition began, the team took some of their spy gear to Colorado for one last mission where Morgan (Joshua Gomez) was reunited with Bo Derek….his past “lover!” The first thing that surely came to everyone’s mind was, when did that happen? The next thought… what is Bo up to now in the world of Chuck? The title of the episode clearly details Bo as the bad guy. So it came as no surprise that Bo was involved with the case of the intersect. Is it safe to say she is our final female villain? Either way, it all made for one of the most entertaining episodes this season.

Chuck Review, Season 5, Episode 10, “Chuck Versus Bo”
Written by Kristin Newman
Directed by Jeremiah Chechik
Airs Fridays at 8pm (Et) on NBC
Throughout the tumultuous history of TV and movies, there has been one constant rule. Characters should never talk about taking “one last mission.” Variations on this law include one last score, one last job, or even one last night out with the guys. It’s all bad news. This makes Chuck and Sarah’s decision to take one last spy mission a thorny proposition. They recognize the dire ramifications of this move, but there’s no choice. They must take the chance and go against the conventional wisdom. This pop-culture precedent bodes poorly for their trip to Vail, even if the stakes are worth the risk. The location of a pair of Intersect sunglasses (another one?) is the invaluable prize, and they’re not the only people looking for it.

This week’s episode of Chuck took a back seat in exhilaration and heart pounding action. Ordinarily, a break from all of the action would be fitting but with these being the final episodes of the series… much is expected. And unfortunately there was not enough action… or comedy. Last night’s episode actually seemed rather slow moving. With such dynamite episodes in the past few weeks, this change of pace did not go unnoticed. So while this episode does not stand out among the rest, it did provide for some entertainment.
In “Chuck vs. the Kept Man,” John Casey (Adam Baldwin) rekindles the fire with Gertrude Verbanski (Carrie-Anne Moss) who also becomes the first client of Carmichael Industries ever since their C.A.R.E. Mission Statement released. Let it be noted that Moss and Baldwin’s chemistry is off the charts! Chuck (Zachary Levi) is so clever and so human!

The A-story on "Chuck" Friday (Jan. 6) involves the return of Gertrude Verbanski (Carrie-Anne Moss) and her relationship with Casey (Adam Baldwin). But we're not here to talk about the A-story right now.
The clip up above involves Jeff (Scott Krinsky), who is putting his recently de-addled brain to use by piecing together some of the odd happenings at the Buy More. Why, for example, is Casey in the store before his shift, and wearing a fancy sweater to boot? Why are Chuck (Zachary Levi) and Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski) always going into the home theater room?
Lester (Vik Sahay) isn't much help, so Jeff decides to sort through things himself, using a rather low-tech method.
How close do you think Jeff will get to figuring things out? And if he does, will Chuck and the team find a way to turn him back into the old Jeff?...

Whether it was Daniel Shaw in season three or Alexei Volkoff in season four, Chuck has had some of its more memorable moments in recent history when Team Bartowski is challenged by a charismatic and interesting villain.
That's the one thing that this final season of Chuck had been missing... up until "Chuck vs. The Santa Suit," when Shaw made his triumphant return. Equal parts ruthless and charming, Daniel Shaw made it as difficult for our heroes to succeed as he made it entertaining for the audience to watch.
Shaw complimenting himself through the Sarah-sounding voice box, as well as making out with a passed out Sarah Walker to see if there was any fire left between them, was certainly reason enough to bring back the fantastic Brandon Routh for this episode. The fact that it was also an explanation for why all of these random bad guys were out...

There have been many highlights in the early part of Chuck's fifth and final season. One of my personal favorites was seeing an almost normal Jeffrey Barnes after he stopped breathing in the fumes from his van during his nightly sleep.
Apparently I'm not the only one. Scott Krinsky has enjoyed the change in his character, telling me over the phone: "I think it's great that [Jeff] finally gets to have a little growth. We get to see another side of him that we really haven't seen before."
The difference between the spacey, flaky Jeff we knew for four seasons, and the one Captain Awesome helped develop by telling him to stop sleeping in his van, is so immense that it causes laughter just by listening to Krinsky's normal talking voice on screen.
The actor also enjoys the change for reasons of character development, though.

NBC has released a couple pictures of the "Community" star's guest role in Friday's (Dec. 9) episode, and as you can see by the uniform, he's playing a member of the Nerd Herd. And he's apparently pretty chummy with Morgan (Joshua Gomez) and the still-sober, hair-in-place Jeff (Scott Krinsky).
Missing from that picture, of course, is the Buy More's other full-time Nerd Herder, Lester (Vik Sahay). Jeff had him arrested at the end of "Chuck vs. the Business Trip," and he's still in the custody -- although judging by the array of wires in the background, it looks more like he's incarcerated in the Buy More storage cage than in an actual jail cell.
We have to think that Pudi's character being at the store has something to do with Lester being indisposed -- and we also have...

Chuck Review, Season 5, Episode 4, “Chuck Versus the Business Trip”
Written by Kristin Newman
Directed by Alan Kroeker
Airs Fridays at 8pm (Et) on NBC
During its first three weeks, Chuck’s fifth season relegated many of its supporting characters to the sidelines. It also struggled with resolving the uneven story line of Morgan as the Intersect. Both of those issues disappear quickly in the fourth episode, which moves closer to a return to form. Last week’s cliffhanger had Morgan walking out to his car, unaware of the car bomb waiting for him. There was little tension, especially since NBC ruined the resolution in their previews. During this week’s opener, it is entertaining to watch Morgan perform one of the slowest walks ever to ensure Chuck could save him in time. Following this close call, he’s ready to get rid of the Intersect, and General Beckman is more than happy to oblige.

"Chuck" hit its final-season stride last week with an episode that brought the Morgan-as-Intersect story to a head and felt like the most assured episode of the season thus far.
This week, "Chuck vs. the Business Trip" upped the bar in just about every way. A solid mission -- accomplished with no one having the Intersect -- good couple dynamics between Chuck and Sarah, fine comedy from the team of Gomez & Baldwin, solid non-spy subplots and a big bang of an ending all clicked together expertly.
Things pick up right where they left off, with Morgan narrowly avoiding death thanks to Chuck (let's all pour one out for his douche-cycle, shall we?). They then get the Intersect out of Morgan's head, figuring that once he's back to normal, Decker -- it was him who put the hit out -- will call off the kill order.
Except ... no. In addition to all his CIA hitters,...

Zap2it got some face time with "Chuck's" Scott Krinsky at the premiere for "Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1" Monday night (Nov. 14), and our first question was, naturally, what are you doing at the "Breaking Dawn" premiere?
"I'm a big 'Twilight' fan. ... I've seen all the movies," he says.
Ok then. Krinsky also told us a little bit about what we can expect from his character, Jeff, and Jeffster! on the remainder of "Chuck's" final season, starting with what happened to Jeff in last week's episode.
"Last week I got 'cured.' I can't tell you [if it will last]," he says. "But it was really fun for me. I'm sort of aware of the world around me now."
Both Jeff and Lester (Vik Sahay) have shown hints of moving past Jeffster! in the early episodes this season, but Krinsky says we haven't seen the last of them. "Jeffster! has had a lot more to do this season,...

Chuck Review, Season 5, Episode 1, “Chuck Versus the Zoom”
Written by Chris Fedak and Nicholas Wootton
Directed by Robert Duncan McNeill
Airs Fridays at 8pm (Et) on NBC
Chuck’s season premieres sometimes feel rushed because they’re dealing with cliffhangers from the previous year while beginning a new story. For the fifth season opener, the changes are huge and could raise questions about whether the show can still work. Within a few minutes, it’s clear that the fun remains, despite any cosmetic changes. Luke Skywalker himself (Mark Hamill) appears as a silly gangster with a ridiculous accent for the opening scene. He’s nearly unrecognizable at first glance, but he still has the glint in his eye of the young farm boy from Tatooine. His appearance is far too brief, but having Luke onboard tells us that everything’s going to be okay for this light-hearted series.

Yes it’s been several months since we left the newlyweds to begin their new life together – with each other and with their new agency, and the new abilities of Chuck’s lifelong buddy Morgan. Do you remember all that happened at the end there? It was kind of an avalanche. Well, they’re now back for a final season to give us one more chance to giggle at the Buy More, Captain Awesome, Big Mike, and Jeffster. Still a little blurry? Here’s that Comic Con video again to help jog your memory about the Morgan part, along with what’s been going on with Morgan since then:
Oh yeah, that’s right. And here’s the official season overview:
This high-concept action comedy follows Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi, Tangled) as the Buy More computer geek turned secret agent. When Chuck unwittingly downloads a database of government information and...

Attention Chuck fans, this is it. After four seasons of fiercely fighting to keep your show on the air, tonight marks the beginning of the end. Yet rather than wallow in sadness for what could have been, we here at theTVaddict.com wanted to celebrate what was. Which is precisely why, on the eve of this evening’s fifth and final season premiere, your very own TV Addict had the pleasure of catching up with Vik Sahay, who was only too happy to reflect on his time playing Lester, how much he’ll miss the character, and the surprising way in which he’d like to see the series say goodbye.
Heading into this final season is there something nice about knowing that you guys have control of your own destiny. No more season spent on the bubble, this is it!

Chicago – There have been a number of casualties of the debacle of “The Jay Leno Show” but one has to believe that were NBC not in such dire straits when it comes to ratings (an increasingly depressing situation for the network with new lows nearly every week) that “Chuck” would have been canceled years ago. The program has been on “bubble watch” since its first season, when it dipped below 60th place in the weekly ratings. And yet here we are, reviewing the fifth-season premiere of the show that simply wouldn’t die.
Television Rating: 3.0/5.0
After another round of “They haven’t canceled Chuck yet?” this Spring, NBC announced that they were bringing the program back for a fifth season and final season. Fans can look at it as a victory lap, closure on the show they’ve loved since its acclaimed premiere in the Fall of 2007. Detractors can point...

Sitting down with Vik Sahay and Scott Krinsky at Comic-Con was one of the more surreal Chuck experiences from the press room. Why? Because these two share dynamic and a sense of humor that's eerily similar to their characters.
Sahay was just as goofy and fun as Lester, cracking jokes and telling yours truly that he lived a sad little life. Don't worry, it was all in good fun (and he apologized at the NBC party that night).
So go ahead and watch the video from our great interview session, as the two discus the upcoming Jeffster! breakup and the impending, depressing final season of Chuck. Also, be prepared to laugh:

I told myself I wouldn’t cry. Even though the Chuck cast would be sitting down with me for what would be their final Comic-Con interview as a cast, I refused to let my emotions get the better of me.
But a funny thing happened when Yvonne Strahovski, Joshua Gomez, Ryan McPartlin,Mark Christopher Lawrence, Vik Sahay, Scott Krinsky and Adam Baldwin made a pit stop at TVLine’s interview suite over the weekend — I didn’t shed a single tear. Yay me! I did, however, get a little wistful as the Q&A started winding down.

As far as TV shows that descend upon the San Diego Comic-Con go, the “mothership” — NBC’s Chuck — infiltrated Ballroom 20 on Saturday morning, kicking off a jam-packed convention line-up. What did Zachary Levi, Joshua Gomez, Adam Baldwin and the rest have to share about the upcoming final season?

You won't be getting any "Chuck" Season 5 spoilers from Scott Krinsky here: The show doesn't begin filming until next week, and when Zap2it spoke with Krinsky on Monday (July 18) he had received the season's first script just a short time earlier.
"As if I'd read it, I'd tell you everything," Krinsky jokes.
Krinsky and the rest of the "Chuck" team are about to embark on the final season of the series -- as far as anyone knows. "That's the way we're going into it. ... But of course with NBC, you never know what will happen. We could go another five years," he says with a laugh.
"But if it is the end, it's nice to go into it -- I think for everyone, and for the fans -- feeling like, 'Wow -- we got five seasons.' That's pretty amazing," he continues. "How this show started, with the writers...

Expert geeks and contributing cynics Luke Y. Thompson & Gary Hodges are covering Comic-Con for Deadline. The following is a list of panels that they consider to be of most likely interest to Deadline readers. As there are not enough hours in the day, a panel's inclusion on this list does not necessarily mean they will report on it in more detail later. This covers official convention events only; numerous other things, like the Cowboys and Aliens premiere, will be happening but are not necessarily open to all badgeholders. Opinions and commentary are those of Luke or Gary alone, and do not necessarily represent those of anyone else at Deadline. (Remember, Nikki doesn't do geek...) All panels are subject to change, especially if somebody gets stabbed in the eye again this year: Saturday, July 23 10:00-11:00 - From Buddha to Batman: Deepak Chopra and Grant Morrison Discuss The Seven Spiritual Laws of Superheroes.

Over the weekend, San Diego Comic-Con announced the programming schedule for Saturday and Sunday at this year's convention. Usually, Saturday is the most impressive day as it's the weekend and has the biggest amount of people coming into the area while Sunday is usually the most unexciting day as it's the final day of the event and everything is winding down. For 2011, each day is going in the opposite direction. Saturday's movie programming is very underwhelming, save for a few films like Snow White and the Huntsman and Francis Ford Coppola's Twixt, with more cool TV panels popping up than usual. Sunday is significantly better than usual, especially if you like TV, with Hall H panels on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Glee and more. The Saturday panels of San Diego Comic Con traditionally draw the biggest audience. TV stations have been fighting for a slot on the third day which would be perfect to introduce new shows. This particular year, Fox has prepared "Terra Nova" and "Alcatraz", NBC brings out "Grimm", CBS will promote "Person of Interest" while ABC has "Charlie's Angels".
Also in the July 23 event, TV Guide magazine would host a discussion about shows with supernatural themes such as "The Secret Circle", "Torchwood" and "True Blood". The panel which is moderated by William Keck is held at 2:30 P.M. At room 5Ab.
Below is the rundown for the Saturday panels for returning and new series. The rest of the panels can be found here.
