Jonathan Rhys Meyers from The Tudors and Match Point has been cast in the sci-fi thriller It’s Okay Go Back To Sleep, which Scatena & Rosner Films (S&r) has acquired for sales here in Cannes.

Currently in production in the UK, the film follows a scientist working on a device to heal paralysed people who is tormented by his own sleep paralysis as boundaries blur between what is real and imagined.

Edmund Kingsley, Poppy Drayton, Oliver Trevena, Henning Baum, and Pippa Bennett-Warner round out the key cast. Brian Klemesrud directs from his screenplay.

In the Nandor Fodor and the Talking Mongoose trailer, a Hungarian-American para-psychologist, Nandor Fodor (Simon Pegg), begins investigating a strange occurrence in a distinctive community. Oscar and Grammy winning English actor Ben Kingsley has been signed to star in a feature film adaptation of ‘Violent Cases’.

This will be the first ever graphic novel from Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean, reports Variety.

Kingsley will play the osteopath.

Kingsley said, quoted by Variety: “I’m delighted to be working with this fantastic team on ‘Violent Cases’, which for me is about the power and importance of storytelling, about how we negotiate the shadows cast by the father figures in our lives and above all about the right of our inner child to be heard”.

The feature will be led by writer Mike Carey, director Colm McCarthy and producer Camille Gatin and produced by Scary Monster, Lakesville Productions and Foton Pictures.

As per Variety, Carey has also worked on ‘Lucifer’ and other books in the Sandman universe, which Gaiman also created.

Some 35 years after Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean’s first-ever graphic novel Violent Cases was published, Scary Monster, Lakesville Productions and Foton.Pictures have unveiled that development on a feature adaptation is now underway, with Oscar-winning actor Ben Kingsley attached to play the lead. The film is being led by the creative team behind the BAFTA-nominated The Girl With All the Gifts, including writer Mike Carey, director Colm McCarthy and producer Camille Gatin.

Violent Cases was created by Neil Gaiman (Good Omens, The Sandman, Coraline, Lucifer, American Gods, Doctor Who) and Dave McKean (Luna, Mirror Mask). The graphic novel’s original publisher Mike Lake reached out to Gaiman about turning it into a feature film. Lake suggested writer Carey, who had previously written Lucifer and many other books in the Sandman universe.

Ben Kingsley is set to star in a feature film adaptation of “Violent Cases,” the first ever graphic novel from Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean.

The feature will be led by writer Mike Carey, director Colm McCarthy and producer Camille Gatin (collectively the creative team behind “The Girl With All the Gifts”) and produced by Scary Monster, Lakesville Productions and Foton.Pictures.

Carey has also worked on “Lucifer” and other books in the Sandman universe, which Gaiman also created.

“‘Violent Cases’ is a journey into the mind of Neil Gaiman, as a famous author recounts fragmented childhood memories and visits to an osteopath who once worked for Al Capone, weaving a dark and twisting tale about stories, our memory, violence and the ways we can’t escape our past,” reads the logline.

One Man, One Mission, One Choice. If you haven't already seen this trailer, it might be worth checking out. Capsule is an indie film about Britain's first manned mission to space. It's not actually a true story (as they never sent anyone into space at that time), so this technically counts as "sci-fi", but considering it plays very much like a real thriller that's probably how it should be categorized. Edmund Kingsley plays Guy Taylor, the first British pilot ever sent up into space in 1959, but his capsule malfunctions and he starts to suffer from hypoxia (oxygen deprivation). The cast includes Lisa Greenwood, David Wayman, Nigel Barber and Michael Koltes. This looks like a nice contained thriller, there's just something off about it. See below. The distributor has taken UK rights to Evolutionary Films’ Sci-Fi feature.

Altitude Film Entertainment has taken UK distribution rights to Sci-Fi action genre film The Carrier from sales agent Evolutionary Films.

The film premiered at London’s Raindance Film Festival (Sept 23 - Oct 4).

The Carrier follows eights survivors of a pandemic on Earth who escape to the skies in a damaged commercial jet.

The film is the second feature from director Anthony Woodley, after 2011’s Outpost 11.

Woodley also worked as an aerial technician on bond films Casino Royale and there recently released Spectre.

The film stars Edmund Kingsley (Hugo), Jack Gordon (Captain America: The First Avenger) and Josie Taylor (Tamara Drewe).

Luke Healy produced the film, and also co-wrote the script with director Woodley, Stefan Mitchell and Helen Kingston.

Olivia Holt ("Kickin' It") has joined the cast of faith-based drama "Same Kind Of Different As Me" at Paramount Pictures.

• Kevin Bacon is in talks for Jungle. The thriller is based on the true story of Yossi Ghinsberg, who penned a memoir about his dangerous trip to the Amazon jungle where he was accompanied by two friends and a mysterious guide. If the deal goes through, Bacon will play the Austrian guide, Karl. Greg McLean, whom Bacon worked with on 6 Miranda Drive, will direct. Justin Monjo adapted Ghinsberg's 2005 book for the screen. The film will begin shooting early next year in Australia and Colombia. In addition to the film, Ghinsberg's story also inspired the one-hour Discovery Channel docu-drama series, I Shouldn't Be Alive.
