Xanadu

Attended the second day of the 'Deep Fried Film Festival' today and bagged a rare treat! Having previously heard the Reynolds' brothers' work on radio and been suitably impressed I was interested to see if they could make a successful transition to the big screen and the end product didn't disappoint. Written by Dominic and John Reynolds, and directed by Dominic, viewers were treated to a rare wee gem of a film - fresh, funny, poignant - there was something for everyone.

An imaginative script, full of plot twists and turns, kept viewers guessing right to the end and the actors clearly relished their roles.

Although written and staged in Scotland, the film has general appeal and doesn't tend to the stereotypical.

Of late there has been, in my opinion, a dearth of fresh, new and imaginative work coming to TV and film from Scottish based writers - here's hoping that Xanadu heralds a change in the right direction and we can expect to see more from this talented Director and writers.
