Brandi Loves Girls

I attribute an off-kilter project like this one to Dana Vespoli being overworked -the talented actress/director apparently has to keep cranking out porn non-stop, sort of a XXX R.W. Fassbinder, or else.

Fortunately, Brandi Love is the focus of her attention, in one of those Sweetheart videos that abandons the label's famed Romance content in favor of the quick-buck "Actress Showcase" structure.

Vespoli turned me off with her over-used "shooting in a car" technique, which is Adult Cinema's answer to James Corden's late show "Carpool Karaoke" skits. With wide-angle lens and static-mounted cameras, the show is framed quite awkwardly (and unconvincingly) with each segment introed or ending with Dana interviewing Brandi in the front seat of a car, supposedly driving the star to and fro from an airport. Brandi, the Sissy Spacek of Adult Entertainment, lives in her home town back in North Carolina, and just monthly commutes to L.A. to shoot as much XXX content as time permits.

The four gals she gets to hump for our listening pleasure were picked by fans of the Sweetheart website from a list of 20 Brandi submitted. This approach to content instead of "let's make a movie" is a turn-off for me, who still believes in storytelling. The lucky gals are all young, but quite different from each other, ranging from ageless jail-bait, still schoolgirling it up at age 31 Shyla Jennings, to superstar Ash Hollywood (far, far better in Harmony Films' Spotlight show to her titled "Exquisite Slits"). The fans also voted in Abigail Mac and Kate England, non-starters for my money.
