Developed the idea for her radio play 'Hitchhiker' (which was subsequently filmed) after twice seeing a strange-looking man (first on the Brooklyn Bridge and, again, on the Pulaski Skyway, New Jersey) while driving en route to Hollywood with her then-husband, Bernard Herrmann.
