Commentaire à la une
Paul Thomas makes fun of an easy target: Reality-TV in this truly awful Vivid Video comedy. His mockery backfires, as it is the movie "Third Date" that seems idiotic, more than the medium it is satirizing.
Chief gimmick, whether planned in the screenplay or merely added later, is to have Cartoon type balloons as well as some subtitles to make fun of all the characters, including the crew shooting the title TV show. It's a bit like MST3K or even the current Payton & Eli commentary on ESPN football cablecasts, commenting on or criticizing the show.
Herschel Savage portrays the show's condescending host, but like his crew (which includes Chris Cannon, Ann Marie Rios, Heidi Smile and Anton Michael), he gets involved in the XXX scenes that are the heart of the show's content. We watch contestants going on a date (the third one) and fighting as well as having sex. It's all a set of cliches derived from crap like "The Bachelor" only dumber.
Some talented beauties are wasted here in the attempt at comedy, notably busty redhead Ruby, Brittney Skye, Wendy Divine and Rios, while Maya Smiles doesn't get a sex scene or even a screen credit.
Talk about a waste of time; I can even see an endless expanse of shows, each making fun of the previous one, as Paul Thomas's video is just as worthy of being mocked as the TV junk he's attempting to mock. And the self-mockery of adding Balloon captions and deprecatory subtitles doesn't circumvent this.
