Joseph Simon Janecek is a Czech actor, director, writer and musician. Originally born in Newcastle, Australia, he was raised in Prague, the capital city of the Czech Republic. His mother, Kate Janecek, was an aspiring actress until she became an elementary school teacher and mindfulness trainee. His father, Martin Janecek, is a book publisher. Joseph is the only filmmaker of his family.
Janecek began his career at a fairly young age. In early 2018, he founded the YouTube channel Divide Films along with co-directors Adam Elfeki and Jachym Prach, where he uploaded several amateur short films. What once was a mere YouTube channel soon grew to become a decently successful film production company, and Janecek was able to begin his professional career before graduating from high school.
