A lonely hospital employee trying to reclaim control over his life discovers the forbidden "Golden Shopping Arcade" and embarks on a path that surpasses his darkest expectations.

A child wakes up early in the morning in his house in a remote village in Calabria. He packs his backpack and, without waking his father, who is asleep in front of the TV, he leaves the house and begins his escape: he crosses the deserted village, moving between the houses and alleys, and emerges into the forest that surrounds the village. After the forest, he encounters a dry valley, scorched by the summer sun. Thirsty, he drinks from a river. After many adventures, the child reaches the valley, crosses a reed bed, and emerges onto a beach where he finds the summer wind, the cool water, and above all, freedom.
