Marc Bartra Injury Update

BVB centre back Marc Bartra picked up a knock that forced him out of our game against Wolfsburg on Tuesday. BVB now reports that it was a adductor strain that forced the ex-Barcelona player off the pitch. While an adductor strain isn't that serious it could force him to sit out our next few matches. While losing Bartra for Freiburg isn’t a disaster, not having him for our UEFA Champions League game against Real Madrid may hurt. Bartra has been fantastic for BVB so far this season, and losing him would be a huge loss for the team. Bartra has started every game this season so replacing him isn’t going to be easy. It will probably be Matthias Ginter who will take the starting centre back role alongside Sokratis.

There is no exact timeline for Bartra's return but adductor injuries usually heal up in about two weeks. That will probably take him out for the Bayer Leverkusen game on October 1st as well. Hopefully he’ll be ready to go by the 14th when we play Hertha.
