The latest upgrade to the Blackbird platform is due to be released on 19th March 2024. lt includes further improvements to the editor along with a first release of the new cloud ingest management for streams and files along with a new scheduler interface.

Further improvements including extending of live recording will follow this release. Current features include a new floating Blackbird player for preview of streams and files during ingest, a fully paginated ingest queue with customisable columns and powerful search capabilities as well as a new schedule and recurring event management feature with conflict management.

Blackbird Editor: New editor shortcut – Go to next/previous video edit point

For increased speed of navigation in a timeline, this keyboard shortcut can now be assigned to ignore audio edits and seek instantly to the next video edit point. For users with complex timelines this will improve rapid edit workflows.

Blackbird Ingest: New ingest queue

The new ingest and scheduler is available to account managers from the Blackbird home page. Note that in accounts where a library is used, the library account may be the one of interest for management purposes.

New highly performant page with paginated results grid with customisable columns, advanced search and filtering.

New scheduler

A new scheduler for stream ingest with conflict management and recurring event management. This now supports scheduling at any time as well as flagging and blocking any conflicting jobs from being entered

Floating preview player

Integration of the Blackbird player as a floating window allows for preview of stream and file ingest along with the ability to multitask. The player is launched from the ingest queue by clicking the preview thumbnail and can be sized and positioned according to user preference to allow for ongoing ingest queue management work whilst previewing items.

Security and Compliance work

Numerous updates to backend and Edge infrastructure for latest python3 and Angular for long term supportability.
