I always make a joke when doing predictions that these are things that are sure to go very wrong. But, I do like to be the person that can admit when I am off on things, and in the case for today's post, way...waaaaay off on things.
Yes, today, we're revisiting our annual bold predictions for FC Dallas to see if things ended up coming true for the club. After reviewing these, I can say a couple of things about this year's predictions: I was way too optimistic about things. Maybe I did it for the clicks and the views on the post. Maybe. But in all reality, I was really, really off on things.
Hindsight, am I right?
Alright, let's get into the predictions and see where I was right and where I was wrong.
Prediction: FC Dallas will make one big move before the start of 2024
Result: Winner, winner! Off to a nice start...
At the time we still needed to see the club get rid of Jesus Jimenez. I also thought the level of the signing would be somewhere around the lines of a TAM-level or better. But there were hints that the club could be going pretty big with a move in January with the transfer window open. They had an open Designated Player slot and could make it work.
The ‘one big move’ ended up being a club-record signing in Petar Musa.
I would say that is indeed one big move. So, we're off to a good start.
Prediction:Jesus Ferreira will score 15 goals in 2024
Result: And the wheels begin to go off here...
Oh boy, this is where things do start going off the rails a bit. Not only did Ferreira come nowhere near 15 goals in 2024, he was injured for a decent amount of the season and never really looked like a guy that could carry the team anymore.
Ferreira ended the season tied for second in scoring with five goals. A huge dropoff from the 12 goals he scored in 2023. An even bigger drop off from his 18 goals scored in 2022.
