NFLSU Week 7 Recap

Besides a big injury scare, another solid week

Week 7 of the NFLSU season continued to deliver plenty of exciting touchdowns. We almost had a soul-crushing disaster in the afternoon slate, but we dodged a bullet. Let’s break everything down.

Broncos 33 at Saints 10

In his first game active as a Bronco, Kwon Alexander recovered fumble and had one tackle. Foster Moreau caught two passes for 38 yards. Tyrann Mathieu had five tackles and did something unthinkable: drop an interception. Can’t imagine more definitive proof the Saints’ vibes are rotten.

NFLSU Score: 5/10

Patriots 16 at Jaguars 32

The Jaguars got a London win on their second attempt largely thanks to a key strategy: throw the freaking ball to Brian Thomas Jr.

BTJ finished with five catches for 89 yards and a TD. He leads all rookie receivers in yards, yards after catch and TDs. Kayshon Boutte only caught one pass but it went for 33 yards. Davon Godchaux had one tackle.

NFLSU Score: 7/10

Titans 10 at Bills 34

Arden Key had two tackles and a sack. Ali Gaye had one tackle. Lloyd Cushenberry recovered one of his teammates’ four fumbles. Reid Ferguson long snapped and had one tackle.

At his request, the Titans cut Jamal Adams. As of now, he has not yet found a new home.

NFLSU Score: 4/10

Texans 22 at Packers 24

Derek Stingley Jr. had six tackles tackles while Danielle Hunter had three, including a huge sack that was almost a safety.

NFLSU Score: 4/10

Eagles 28 at Giants 3

Malik Nabers returned one week too late for us to enjoy. He only caught four passes for 41 yards, but the latter led the Giants. Cor’Dale Flott had one tackle before leaving with an injury.

NFLSU Score: 3/10

Lions 31 at Vikings 29

Hey remember in the last game where Justin Jefferson didn’t score a TD for the first time all year? That was lame. More of this, please!

Jets caught 7 passes for 81 yards and that TD. Minnesota ran a trick play where Jefferson was ready to throw it deep, but it was covered, so he tucked it and ran for three. It’s not the first time we’ve seen a J. Jefferson in purple and gold settle for a short run instead of throwing the ball.

Ed Ingram blocked. Jay Ward and Mekhi Wingo played, but did not record stats. Expect to see more of the latter with a significant injury to Aidan Hutchinson.

NFLSU Score: 8/10

Seahawks 34 at Falcons 14

All credit for the win goes to Anthony Bradford, I’m assuming.

NFLSU Score: 1/10

Bengals 21 at Browns 14

For the first time in five tries, Joe Burrow won in Cleveland. Joe went 15/25 for 181 yards with 2 TDs, 0 INTs, and 3 sacks. It wasn’t flashy, but these matchups never are. Ja’Marr Chase caught five passes for 55 yards and this gorgeous TD.

I don’t ever wanna see these two not play with each other. Ethan Pocic and Grant Delpit returned for a Cleveland team that will hopefully begin showing signs of life with the return of Nick Chubb and the exit of [REDACTED].

NFLSU Score: 9/10

Dolphins 10 at Colts 16

For reasons we do not yet know, Blake Ferguson was placed on the reserve/non-football illness list, so he will not be playing for awhile. Not sure what happened, but we hope all is good. Odell Beckham Jr. and Duke Riley played, but did not record stats.

NFLSU Score: 1/10

Panthers 7 at Commanders 40

Every LSU fan was clenching for 24 hours after Jayden Daniels left the game with a rib injury, and thankfully we got mostly good news. Jayden is week-to-week after taking a hard hit that knocked him out after the first drive. Most of us had a sinking feeling this would happen considering Jayden’s size and playing style as well as the last 25 years of Washington Professional Football, but it felt extra devastating with how well he was playing.

It would be a bummer to not see him suit up next week since the Commanders will be hosting the Bears in a matchup flexed to CBS’ prime time afternoon slot to spotlight the No. 1 vs 2 picks in last year’s draft, but whatever is needed to keep Jayden healthy is best.

Also, we still got one incredible JD highlight out of his one drive.

Oh yeah poor Damien Lewis is still a Panther, as if this game wasn’t sad enough.

NFLSU Score: 1/10

Raiders 15 at Rams 20

Tre White was inactive. K’Lavon Chaisson had two tackles for the Raiders. He had a sack last week that I forgot to mention. My bad, K.

NFLSU Score: 1/10

Chiefs 28 at 49ers 18

Clyde Edwards-Helaire was inactive again. However the 49ers cut Terrace Marshall Jr. from the practice squad, so no wonder their promising season is going to shit.

NFLSU Score: 0/10

Jets 15 at Steelers 37

In just his second game as a Jet, Jalen Mills has a whopping 8 tackles and a huge pass breakup. Patrick Queen had four tackles and Donte Jackson had two.

NFLSU Score: 4/10

Ravens 41 at Buccaneers 31

Trey Palmer caught one pass for 16 yards. Tampa’s top two receivers left this game with significant-looking injuries, so there will be a chance for Palmer to get more targets.

NFLSU Score: 1/10

Chargers 15 at Cardinals 17

Kristian Fulton played limited snaps coming off an injury, so he didn’t record any stats. Speaking of coming off injury, please get healthy DJ Chark. This offense is ugly to watch.
