Possibly the win at Baylor on Saturday will give the Sooners some much needed confidence on the road but if this season has shown one thing its that playing away from home in the Big 12 is very dangerous. The Sooners have won four in a row and are beaming with confidence but beginning tonight the schedule turns very wicked for the remainder of the season. Oklahoma's post season will be determined over the next 6 games.
Sooner Scoop
In Saturday's win over Baylor Nate Carter led the team in scoring for the sixth time in the last seven games. Despite being shut out in the first half Longar Longar finished with his fifth double-double on the season by scoring 12 points in the second half to go along with his 12 rebounds. Tony Crocker has been Oklahoma's most impressive freshman this season but Saturday it was Bobby Maze turning heads as he came off the bench to record 12 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists without any turnovers in 26 minutes of playing time.
Scouting the Cyclones
Mike Taylor leads the team in points (16.9) and assists (4.4) while shooting .380 from 3-point range. Wesley Johnson averages 12.8 points and ranks second in the Big 12 with 8.8 rebounds per game. He has 11 double-doubles on the year. Jiri Hubalek scored 10.6 points and grabs 6.8 rebounds per game while Rahshon Clark averages 7.0 points and 6.4 rebounds a game.
Outlook and Prediction
Don't let Iowa State's .500 record fool you. Forget the fact that the Cyclones have lost seven of their last eight games OU is in for a dogfight tonight in Ames. Iowa State is 10-4 at home and don't forget that they took Kansas into overtime there. Nothing will come easy for the Sooners tonight and that makes me very nervous. Despite OU's current win streak (4 games) they will have to play some of their best ball tonight to sneak out with a win. I say they are up to it but barely. Sooners win 59 - 52, BOOMER SOONER!!!
