I know we are 1-4 and "You are what your record says you are." But I actually disagree in our case. Does our record matter? Absolutely. Do we have a grave to dig out of? Absolutely. Are we better than our record indicates? Absolutely!
Game 1 : Patriots - We were clearly underprepared and probably deserved the loss. However, had Gesicki's touchdown counted, as the NFL later said it should have, we win that game.
Game 2 : Chiefs - We out played them through 4 quarters and lost to a costly Burrow fumble, poor calls/no calls and an untimely PA at the end of the game. They are probably the best team in the NFL and we should/could have won. Which proves the point we are a good team.
Game 3 : Commanders - Washington is a much better team than many expected and played an almost perfect game against us. We didn't punt once, didn't turn the ball over once and scored over 30 points. No team has ever lost doing those 3 things in NFL History (104 years). Our defense played historically bad.
Game 4 : Panthers - Finally won a game. Albeit against the worst team in the NFL. (Not helping my argument)
Game 5 : Ravens - Maybe the 2nd or 3rd best team in the NFL right now and once again we should have won. Our defense was atrocious but stopped Henry for most of the game. Our offense had a 10-point lead for much of the game, including in the 4th quarter and once again barely lost by some fluke plays. Not to take away from Baltimore who played an amazing game. But we should have won.
Our record is horrible. But our team is not. We are as good as the Chiefs and Ravens, our record just doesn't reflect it.
If Lou and our defense can MAN UP and start playing even average, we can make the playoffs and win the whole thing from there.
