ACC Tournament Day 1

The first round of the 2023 ACC Men’s Basketball tournament begins today at Greensboro Coliseum. Seeds 10 through 15 will be in action today.

12. Florida State 9-22 (7-13) vs 13. Georgia Tech 14-17 (6-14)

Game Time: 2 pm

Previous Meeting: Florida State (H) 75 Georgia Tech (A) 64 on 1/7/2023

Breakdown: Florida State pulled away in the second half in their first meeting, but Georgia Tech has been a completely different team since February 1. No team is shooting better from three of late than the Yellow Jackets. From the Rumble Seat has a great breakdown of the changes they’ve made here. I think that makes a difference.

Prediction: Georgia Tech 70 Florida State 67

10. Boston College 15-16 (9-11) vs 15. Louisville 4-27 (2-18)

Game Time: 4:30 pm

Previous Meeting: Boston College 75 (H) Louisville 65 (A) on 1/25/2023

Breakdown: Louisville just wants this season to end. Been there.

Prediction: Boston College 78 Louisville 62

11. Virgina Tech 18-13 (8-12) vs 14. Notre Dame 11-20 (3-17)

Game Time: 7:00 pm

Previous Meeting: Virginia Tech (A) 93 Notre Dame (H) 87 on 2/11/2023

Breakdown: Virginia Tech is the defending ACC Tournament champion, having won four games last March from the 7th slot. Notre Dame has been terrible most of the year, but they’ll be playing hard for Mike Brey. I’ll be taking the Irish for the sole reason that if they win it gives fellow bubble team NC State another opportunity for a bad loss or boring win in next round.
