The Premier League has never boasted such star quality across the board, with the talent at the division's disposal spreading across every position group.

Sure, there are relentless goalscorers, dazzling playmakers, powerful box-to-boxers and stern defenders, but don't forget about the goalkeepers.

There's nowhere to hide as a shot-stopper in the Premier League. Goalkeepers are only as good as their previous action. A high-profile error is capable of a stock crash, with reputations only earned after months of reliability.

5. Bart Verbruggen (Brighton) ↔️

Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Fabian Hurzeler is turning heads left, right and centre, with impressive victories over Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Manchester City already under his belt.

A number of players have impressed in that time, though the contribution of Bart Verbruggen in goal can't be understated. The club's undisputed number having only turned 22 in August, he's outperforming many others in key goalkeeping metrics and looks to have a huge future ahead of him.

4. Mats Sels (Nottingham Forest) 🔽

Nottingham Forest's resurgence under Nuno Espirito Santo has largely been attributed to the brilliance of Chris Wood up front.

But one of the biggest problems that Forest has solved is who they have between the sticks. A number of goalkeepers were cycled through in quick succession - many of them on loan - before Matz Sels rocked up, and it's fair to say they've found the difference maker.

Newcastle United can blow very hot and they can also blow very cold - manager Eddie Howe will be the first to admit that.

Consistency is the key at St James' Park and luckily they have a goalkeeper who delivers just that in terms of performance level. Where Nick Pope's distribution is lacking, his shot-stopping is soaring - the Magpies conceding far less than they should because of the former Burnley stopper.

2. Andre Onana (Manchester United) ↔️

A maverick goalkeeper with an utterly unique style, Andre Onana can go from silly to spectacular in the blink of an eye.

With a tough first season in the Premier League behind him, the Cameroonian is now proving he's one of the division's top stoppers, regularly keeping Manchester United in games with a multitude of saves.

While David Raya earned Golden Glove honours last time out, he did so while making just 46 saves. Alisson, on the contrary, was almost always busy while serving as the last defender of Liverpool's aggressive defensive line.

The Brazilian now plays under the slightly more conservative Arne Slot but his save percentage prior to October's injury blow was still 88.2% - by far and away the best in the division. Alisson will remain undisputed number one until someone proves they are more worthy.
