Iaido at Two Rivers Aikikai

Iaido is the art of drawing, cutting, and sheathing of the Japanese sword. Iaido provides the means to practice focus and centeredness through a series of movements that can be refined over the duration of one's Iaido training lifetime.

Two Rivers Aikikai is a member of Kiyoikaze, an Iaido Federation directed by Claude Berthiaume Shihan, at Aikido de la Montagne, Montreal, Quebec. Our practice is centered on Muso Shinden Ryu, as understood by Mitsunari Kanai Sensei, and transmitted from him to Claude Berthiaume. Kanai Sensei's training in Iaido incorporated the instruction of forms from other Iaido traditions, which we incorporate into our training as well.

For more in-depth information about Iaido, visit the Kiyoikaze website at kiyoikaze.org/eng.

If you have an interest in practicing Iaido in Portland, please come to our dojo to watch a class. Please arrive at least 5 minutes before a scheduled Iaido class time.

Iaido classes are Mondays from 6-7pm and Thursdays from 7:15-8:15pm.
