I got several rips of this from various sources and all contained an error(?): track 5 has a beep at 0:42 seconds.

I wonder if everyone had the same bad rip or this release has a print error.

have you checked the streamed audio rip (.STRMs) from the game? listening to it, it's hard to tell if it's an artifact or if it was intended i don't have access to those files at the moment so i unfortunately cannot check myself.

Believe it or not, it's actually part of the music.

• This release isn't a game rip, it's a soundtrack CD.
• By rip i mean rip of the soundtrack CD, not game rip.
• the particular track features piano and real violin and at 0:42 you hear nothing but a loud electronic beep (it's not over the music, but in place of it).

How can you tell?

^^ I take Blitz Lunar is saying you could compare the OST with the original game files to see if the beep is there as well or introduced later in the OST. Why so serious?

You can hear it in the game as well. This soundtrack was partially arranged by Mitsuto Suzuki, who is quite fond of this kind of electronic sound effects.
