TV show description:
This controversial drama follows the life of Episcopal Reverend Daniel Webster (Aidan Quinn) in the fictional small town of Newbury, New York.
Daniel has more than his share of daily challenges with family members like alcoholic wife Judith (Susanna Thompson), 23-year-old gay Republican son Peter (Christian Campbell), 16-year-old rebellious daughter Grace (Alison Pill), and 16-year-old adopted Chinese son Adam (Ivan Shaw) who is dating the daughter of prejudice parishioners. Bishop Beatrice Congreve (Ellen Burstyn) is involved with Daniel’s married father, Bertram Webster (James Rebhorn), a retired bishop who’s dealing with his wife’s Alzheimer’s disease.
With all this, it’s no wonder that Daniel has become addicted to painkillers and frequently seeks advice from a vision of Jesus Christ (Garret Dillahunt) that only he can see.
Episode 8 — Betrayal
Charlie comes to warn Daniel about a money-laundering scheme that is being carried out under the guise of the St. Barnabus endowment. He confirms the priest’s fears that the Mob is involved. Daniel also finds out about the affair between Beatrice and his married father, Bertrum.
First aired: Did not air on NBC.
There hasn’t been any news of plans to revive the show.
I love this show – I hope it’s written by biblical schlors – the characters are engaging – I wish it had been on longer – it’s entertaining and thought provoking – wonderfully written – the best show ever!!
I really enjoyed this show. Top bad it was introduced in the wrong market
@Britt: It is available on DVD. Just look at the box that’s a few inches above your message. Hope that helps.
Does anybody know if they put the seven episodes on DVD? If they did can you lead to where its being sold. This show was brilliant for the two episodes I got to see and was mad when they canceled it. If anyone could help out that would be great. 🙂
