This is a mess for me, and I don't know what else to do about it. I've applied for emergency medicaid to try and cover this, but who knows how long it'll take or if i won't just get denied because we live in a fucking fascist hellhole.

I need my thyroid out. This thing hates me and given the chance it is going to try and kill me. We do not know if it is cancerous, only that it's angry and getting angrier. Whether it's cancerous or not, it needs to come out. So says my extremely pissed off endocrinologist. I love him.

Unfortunately, I'm a fucking cripple. I can't work, I can't afford insurance, I'm in the process of applying for disability but, again, who knows how fucking long that's going to take. As it stands I have no way of paying for this shit without help.

Urgent humanitarian appeal from Gaza, I am Ahmed Al-Dhani, 15 years old from Gaza, I live with my family in a tent above our house that was destroyed by the bombing. We used to take shelter in it from the winter cold, but it could not withstand the storms, its roof was torn off and our mattresses were soaked in the rain. This place is all we have left, and we do not have anything to help us restore the tent or provide a cover to protect us from the cold.

Watching white tumblr users interact with black things is funny because they will always misapprehend things and just generally be reductivist.

So I’m seeing a lot of people going “haha Kendrick got awards for being a hater,” “Drake lost so bad lol.”

And I’m just massaging my temples at the irony of nonblack people en masse misunderstanding a song called “They not like us.”

Kendrick has a whole verse in the song breaking down the commodification of blackness and the history of colonization apropos to Black Americans. That’s what the whole Drake beef was about btw. It was about Drake’s pattern of ripping off black culture just to peddle it to the uncaring masses and make millions off of it, while the smaller artists he steals from get no recognition (money). Drake was getting called the rap goat by nonblack people, he was getting looked at as the greatest in a tradition he has no roots in. Kendrick’s distaste for Drake was years in the making. FdSignifier has some great vids from like 2020 about Drake’s rise in the rap world. There’s also Pusha T’s diss from 2018 called “The story of Adidon.” My point is, Drake is a culture vulture and the Drake v. Kdot beef was about reclaiming what Drake (and other culture vultures) stole.

Drake is also problematic for other reasons, e.g. sexually exploiting women, allegedly participating in sex trafficking, and so on.

It does a disservice to Kdot’s message to reduce this beef to an apolitical 1v1. It was never a 1v1, it was always political, it was always about the broader culture, it was always a culture war, etc.

So I got recommended this video and it does a REALLY detailed breakdown of this beef. History, the importance of different elements cultures outside may not understand, etc. It's a fuckin banger vid

i feel like the term “dogwhistle” is becoming increasingly misused and it’s going to become dangerous at some point

dogwhistles are used as plausibly-deniable signals to other members of the in-group to signify the person as a member, while remaining at least somewhat inconspicuous to outsiders. they are not a general “oh i recognize this as terf/nazi/hategroup bullshit, therefore it’s a dogwhistle”.

“1488” is a dogwhistle. “Wombyn” is a dogwhistle. “Globalist elites” is a dogwhistle. Calling trans women “TRAs” is a dogwhistle. Saying “total jew death” or “biological males don’t belong in women’s spaces” are not dogwhistles, they are just the explicit rhetoric of neonazis and terfs, respectively.

i need people to learn to differentiate between “this is a dogwhistle” and “this is outright bigotry” because i am tired of seeing people say “omg dogwhistle” to terfs outright saying trans women are men. please. at this point it’s just giving them more plausible deniability.
