Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! There might be a war on, but Twirl is having a great time! Not an uncommon thing for a Decepticon, but Twirl's fun runs less along the lines of world domination and mindless violence and more to things like parties and dancing. Fighting Autobots is pretty low on the list.
Why is she a Decepticon, again?

Beast Wars: Uprising
Once an inhabitant of the planet Master, Twirl tried to remain neutral in the Great War, trying to avoid taking any side she could. As a Targetmaster, Twirl just narrowly avoided being a victim of the Targetmaster Extirpation at the end of the war, going into hiding on a Cybertron hostile to her kind. With help from Hotwire, she disguised her alternate mode's anatomy to pass herself off as a Micromaster. She spent the next few hundred years blending in and trying not to let her fear of being discovered breach her happy-go-lucky exterior. During that time, she kept in touch with her former fellows, including Surge.
When the Grand Uprising began, Twirl fled the Resistance-targeted Vos. She had been planning to go to Crystal City, where most of the remnants of Master's population lived, only for the city to be destroyed. Twirl soon ran into the mechanoid "Venus", and the two established a rapport, though "Venus" was trying to recruit Twirl for the Resistance, who had discovered her true nature and wanted to use her Targetmaster powers to help their own cause. Likewise, the Mayhem Attack Squad, a Predacon supremacy group being manipulated by PSP agent Tarantulas, had also learned of her, and began plotting to use her abilities for what they thought was their own gain.
Twirl herself had become tired of living in hiding and decided to reveal her true nature as a Targetmaster. Terrified that he would be found out as well, Surge killed her. Her body was found by MCSF officer Wolfang, and her remains were taken in by the MCSF for examination, but after a few hours of examination the station was bombed by Surge, and her body was utterly destroyed in the chaos. Toys
Legends of the Microns
- Twirl's toy is a redeco of the Air Military Mini-Con Team member Thunderwing, transforming into a (fairly unstealthy) stealth bomber, with a third, spinning-blade weapon mode. Her Powerlinx port is on a freely-rotating joint, so she spins fairly well when attached to a Powerlinx plug, but it does kind of make a Powerlinxed jet mode kinda silly. She was available only with the seventh volume of Legends of the Microns on DVD in Japan.

Notes
- Twirl is a continuity transplant of the Armada Mini-Con of the same name. Her appearances thus far are directly based on the toy design.
- In the 2019 IDW comics, Twirl is unfortunately miscolored several times due to confusion with fellow Decepticon flier Storm Cloud.
