Sureshot (G2)
From Transformers Wiki
This article is about the Optimus Prime lookalike from Generation 2. For the Targetmaster from Generation 1, see Sureshot (G1). |
- Sureshot is an Autobot Hero from the Generation 2 portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
Sureshot is a bit of a paradox, a "Warrior Leader" who believes that war is "never a solution". Unclear as it may be how he juggles his job and his beliefs, he has become known as the ultimate protector, a legend of bravery among the Autobots. Whether stalking Decepticons or storming through their ranks, his cunning and general awesomeness are consistently victorious.[1]

Toys
Generation 2
- Sureshot (Hero, 1994)
- Accessories: 2 missiles, rifle
- Known designers: Masakatsu Saito (concept artist)
- Sureshot's toy, sold only in European markets, is virtually identical to the Hero Optimus Prime figure. The only difference is that Sureshot's "chest-window" stickers do not have the "OPTIMUS PRIME" text on them, though they do still include the lifeline reading. It transforms from a robot to an (unarticulated) articulated truck, with an air-powered missile launcher that can be used in both modes.
- This mold was also used to make Robots in Disguise Destructicon Scourge.
Notes
- Like his wavemate Archforce, Sureshot is a curiosity. Presumably Hasbro's European offices didn't want as many Optimus Prime and Megatron toys on the shelves as the North American branch did, so they renamed the Hero toys of the two characters and altered any decals that bore their original names. The package art was modified accordingly, though the cropped version on Sureshot's bio card was left unmodified with the word "Prime" still visible on his chest. Their bios were also reworded, but the new, briefer descriptions could easily apply to Optimus and Megatron anyway. They lack Tech Spec ratings, so it's unknown if they were intended to inherit the "10" rank as well.
