Spike and Buster went along with Butch to steal cars so he didn't "screw it up". When Butch spotted a fancy tricked-out sports car, Spike told him he was an idiot for picking something so easily recognizable, but Butch persevered, and the trio discovered that the car was actually Rodimus Prime, a giant transforming robot from space. Rodimus took the three brothers to Arizona Bay, where the Ark had crashed and was at the bottom of the sea. When Seaspray tipped out the pile of pieces of green paper he'd found in a vault, Spike excitedly told the Autobots they'd managed to score millions in untraceable cash, and he and Butch began to explain the economics of making money on Earth to them. They eventually managed to get the basic ideas across, and Rodimus came up with the idea to take control of the Global Orbiting Defense Satellite so they could control the world. Before the plan could begin, Goldbug issued a failed leadership challenge. Rodimus easily defeated his subordinate, though Spike was confused as to why he left Goldbug alive.
To infiltrate Burpleson Air Force Base, the three Witwicky boys posed as hot rodders and drove Rodimus around until they were caught and dragged inside the base for questioning. Spike claimed he'd been unable to read the "no trespassing" sign because he didn't go to school much. While the Autobots made their presence known, the boys were helped by their military brother, Bruce. When they were joined by Lieutenant McMillan, Spike took great pleasure in humoring the Lieutenant until the four of them overcame and cuffed him as a hostage. Meanwhile, the Decepticons had set the G.O.D.S. to destroy the base and sounded the evacuation alarm. The brothers withdrew with all haste before the base was obliterated. Eye in the Sky
