Inhibitor clamps are devices used to paralyze Transformers or take control of their higher brain functions.

After capturing the Land Military Mini-Con Team, the Extra-Terrestrial Response Division outfitted them with inhibitor clamps to control their movements, in hopes that the aliens could be used as weapons without any risk of turning on them. This didn't really work out as planned, as during a basic threat response test in 1959, the three Mini-Cons automatically responded with lethal force even when attacked with blanks. A few hours later, they resisted against the clamps long enough to escape from Area 54 for a short while. Blast from the Past!

In 2003, some rogue ERTD members tried to auction off the Land Military Team to outside agencies. To prove to the buyers that the alien weapons were safe, they demonstrated the effectiveness of the inhibitor clamps by poking Wreckage with an electric shock prod... causing him to fight back again, blowing up an ERTD truck in the process. The team was then saved from human control when the Air Defence Team used pulse disruptor beams to disable the inhibitor clamps. Sale of the Century!

A revived and corrupted Jazz used an inhibitor clamp to lock down Ratchet's main axis cog, paralyzing him and keeping him out of Jazz's hair as he tried to auction off Earth to various aliens. Unfortunately for him, Ratchet always made sure to carry spare parts, which let him replace the cog and get back up in a jiffy. Dark Spark
