Hiding inside a missile fired from Fortress Maximus, Emissary rode the projectile to Metroplex, who was in the middle of a battle with Trypticon, and entered the Titan's systems. He offered his power to the struggling Metroplex, granting him heat vision, though both experienced severe pain when Trypticon ripped off Metroplex's arm. Overlord and Emissary When it became clear the Metroplex couldn't win, he forced Emissary to eject as he was finally felled by Trypticon. Before he could retreat, Trypticon swallowed him and forcibly used his powers to grant himself flame breath. • Emissary & Cerebros & Fortress Maximus (Titan Class, 2016/2024)
Only available with his partners (both medium and large), Emissary forms the head of Cerebros, who in turn forms the head of Fortress Maximus. Emissary can also be used as a head for any other Deluxe, Voyager, or Leader figure in the Titans Return subline of Generations. His robot mode is based on the Headmaster Spike figure, whilst his head mode is the mouthplated design of Cerebros's Western character model seen in the cartoon's season 4 three-parter "The Rebirth" and the Marvel comic. Although the CG renders depict the figure in two different shades of gray, the actual figure has its lower legs cast in blue plastic, based on the original Generation 1 Spike figure.
Fortress Maximus was reissued in February 2024. This sculpt was later retooled into Legends Fortress's Headmaster stage, and into Transformers & Downtown No Gaki No Tsukai Ya Arahende! Crossover Donarimasu and Guchirimasu Headmaster units.

In the United States, this version of Fortress Maximus was exclusively at the the Hasbro Toy Shop booth at San Diego Comic-Con 2016 and later through the Hasbro Toy Shop website. Notes

  • Unlike with most Titans Return characters, we opt to give Emissary a separate page on this wiki from Spike due to the difference in characterization despite the toy heritage.
  • Titans Return Emissary's name derives from the identity of the intermediate Headmaster from the Robots in Disguise incarnation of Fortress Maximus. By the by, Robots in Disguise Emissary's equivalent to Titans Return Emissary was named Cerebros. So Robots in Disguise Cerebros forms the head of Emissary while Titans Return Emissary forms the head of Cerebros. It isn't confusing at all.
