Detour believes that strategic retreat is nothing to be ashamed of, and going out in a blaze of glory is foolishness.[1] This makes him the voice of reason in the Sports Car Patrol, and not out of timidity; it's actually the result of his self-absorbed vanity. Patrol leader Blackjack respects Detour's sense of safety and will listen if he raises concerns.[2]

After studying the captive Autobot Battle Patrol, Thunderwing and his scientists managed to replicate Emirate Xaaron's Micromaster process and create a new era of Decepticon Micromasters, including Detour and his cohorts. A Small War!

After Megatron began rebuilding his power base on Cybertron, Detour and the Sports Car Patrol were some of his first recruits. Using the trans-time dimensional portal, Detour participated in the infiltration of the Ark, joining his fellow Micromasters in tricking the ship's medic, Ratchet, into believing they were Autobots on their way back to Cybertron. They were able to fool Ratchet long enough to take him prisoner at Megatron's base on Cybertron. Back from the Dead There, Detour mocked Ratchet openly, pretending that his "reunion" with Megatron was a cheerful one. When Hyperdrive openly objected to the fact that he wouldn't get to dismember Ratchet, as Megatron had greater use for him, Detour told his fellow Micromaster to simply shut up and stand back as their boss did his thing. The Resurrection Gambit!

Detour soon came to butt heads with Dreadwind, though Megatron diffused the petty squabble between his troops, declaring their moment of triumph imminent. With Starscream fully repaired and upgraded into a mindless weapon of mass destruction, Megatron invited the Sports Car Patrol to join him in watching the Ark's destruction after they had disassembled Ratchet's lab. But Ratchet had been hatching a plot of his own, and caused a terminal in the lab to overload, catching Detour and the other Micromasters in its explosion. The Autobot then reactivated his buddies (Jazz, Grimlock, and Bumblebee), and sicced them on Megatron and his minions. All the Familiar Faces! The Race Car Patrol swarmed Jazz, the battle going in their favor until Ratchet informed his teammate of his new capabilities as a Pretender. Once the Autobot managed to get the hang of remote-controlling his shell, Detour's group began losing ground. Megatron was still more than capable of dealing with the Autobots however, and pitched all three of the new Pretenders outside, ordering his minions after them while he chased down Ratchet through his base's corridors. The Sports Car Patrol's running battle with the Autobots luckily took them out of range of the massive explosion which leveled the entire complex when Ratchet teleported several bombs within it. From a distance, both sides witnessed the building go up in flames, seemingly signaling the end of both Ratchet and Megatron. Skin Deep

Look ahead! Or you'll stumble over the guy from the panel below!

Detour was one of the many Micromasters created by the Autobots and Decepticons in a joint venture after the launch of the Ark. He could first be seen in a secret nightclub in Little Iacon, where he and Slow Poke threw globs of green slimey stuff at a poster showing Megatron and Optimus Prime. He then witnessed a race between Big Daddy and Roadhandler. The Gray Race Right after the end of the race, the Micromasters - among them Detour - were attacked by the Insecticons and subsequently caught prisoners. Recipe for Hate Like his fellow Micromasters, Detour was freed by Countdown, Groundshaker and the Hot Rod Patrol and partook in the march of the Micromasters to end a battle between the Autobots and Decepticons. He was one of the Micromasters carrying the severed head of Shockwave, evidence that all combatants had been manipulated to fight in a suicide mission. Victims of the Revolution
