Breakaway owned the freighter Darklon. When Powerflash was looking for a ship, Breakaway was all too keen to sell the ship to him and the Elite Guardsman got it for a bargain price. A Team Effort

- Though not depicted in the story, Breakaway would be described by author Jesse Wittenrich as a Generation 1 adaptation of the Revenge of the Fallen Autobot jet-former Breakaway. As that Breakaway shared a toy mold with movieverse Thrust, Wings Breakaway would thus share a color scheme with the canceled Generation 2 Conehead toy Sandstorm.[1]
