Marvel The Transformers comics

Buster's battlesuit appeared exclusively in the UK portion of the Marvel Comics continuity.

Wheeljack's and Ratchet combined their efforts to create a battlesuit (featuring abilities such as limited range flight and echo cells) for their ally Buster Witwicky so that he could defend himself the next time the Decepticons attacked.

Once the battlesuit was ready, Ratchet called Optimus Prime to show them the newest Autobot warrior. Optimus Prime was not as enthusiastic about the project as its three participants, but rather astonished that two experienced soldiers would knowingly involve an outsider in their war. Though each of the three believed Buster was already involved and that this would simply help him survive, Optimus ordered the battlesuit destroyed. Devastated, Buster left the repair bay and Wheeljack and Ratchet decided to postpone the disassembly until the next day.

Later that night, Buster concluded that all he had to do was prove Optimus Prime of the battlesuit's use, and thus sneaked back to the repair bay. He flew his battlesuit to the abandoned Fortress Sinister, hoping to find a device of value to appease Optimus with. Coincidentally, Shockwave and Frenzy also had chosen that time to search the fortress for useful materials. Buster encountered Frenzy outside and attacked him, figuring a captive Decepticon was even better evidence of the battlesuit's use. Frenzy was less than pleased that he was attacked by a human and unleashed a powerful sonic attack. Buster accidentally activated his echo cells and returned the attack to Frenzy, KO'ing him. Reflecting on the battle, Buster decided that if he needed luck to beat one of the weaker Decepticons, Optimus had been right. Yet before he could leave, Shockwave discovered him and attacked. Buster fought back as well as he could improvise, but only succeeded to severely tick off Shockwave. When morning came, Buster saw a chance to hit the Decepticon with the strongest blast his battlesuit was still capable off. Shockwave recovered from the attack mere moments later, whereas Buster barely survived the recoil at all. His battlesuit was rendered unsalvageable, so it was fortunate the Autobots had found both Buster and the battlesuit missing, put two and two together and come to save him. Robot Buster!

Regeneration One

Regeneration One continues from the Marvel US series, and does not include the UK stories or any subsequently published stories.

Members of the human resistance against Megatron at Argus Base had access to a number of battlesuits that they could deploy to defend themselves against his Cybertronian weaponry.

In 2012 after the Wreckers crash-landed on Earth, they were brought to Argus Base for a meeting with Gordon Kent, G.B. Blackrock and Circuit Smasher. Seeing the base's battlesuits, Springer formulated a plan to attack Megatron's power base at the Ark with a joint human-Autobot strike team. The Wreckers Rack 'n' Ruin, Broadside, Leadfoot, Roadbuster and Topspin fought their way through the Ark's defences alongside the battlesuit-armoured humans Gordon, Rob, Paula and Nel, only to be confronted by a squad of Guardian units. Loose Ends, Part 4

The battlesuits proved their worth in the battle against the Guardians as Nel's firepower easily cracked the armour of one, allowing Circuit Smasher to fry its circuits. Later, the humans were able to cover for the fallen Broadside against the drones as Circuit Smasher penetrated the Ark to destroy Auntie, though Rob's suit also fell in battle. Loose Ends, Part 5

Discovering that Optimus Prime hadn't left the Earth, Circuit Smasher proceeded to beat the snot out of him in Sweetwater County, Wyoming, only being prevented from killing the Autobot by the intervention of his commanding officer and wife Linda Chang at the head of a unit of three battlesuits. After listening to what Prime had to say, Chang and the other battlesuited humans escorted him back to the Little America enclave to answer to G.B. Blackrock. Destiny, Part Two

Later, when a squad of Autobots led by Prowl came through the Glass Mountains space bridge, Chang was ready and waiting in her battlesuit, with a squad of mean and ticked off humans...with big guns! Recognising the resistance members, Roadbuster negotiated a ceasefire with the promise that they could help her find Spike, missing since Fortress Maximus abducted him. Now united with the Autobots, Chang's unit crossed through the space bridge to the Clar Macro-jungle on Nebulos where they saved Ultra Magnus from being shot in the back by the Dark Matrix-corrupted Fortress Maximus. The War to End All Wars, Part 5

Notes

  • While designed in homage to Buster's battlesuit from the UK comics, the origins of the Regeneration One battlesuits are unclear—though Argus Base is a former G.I. Joe facility, so perhaps they built them.
