Boulder (RB)
From Transformers Wiki
The name or term "Boulder" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Boulder (disambiguation). |
- Boulder the Construction-Bot is an Autobot from the Rescue Bots portion of the Aligned continuity family.
Boulder's huge frame and powerful alternate mode are his greatest assets when it comes to his primary job of being the Rescue Bots' engineer. His keen reasoning ability and engineering genius are also something he shares with his human partner, Graham Burns, with whom he has formed a mutual bond to the point where they each can anticipate what the other is thinking as they're forced to improvise as part of a rescue effort. There's another side to Boulder, however — his gentle nature and fascination with everything he encounters on planet Earth. From the flora and fauna to human culture, Boulder can't get enough of it.
He is also sometimes partnered with Walker Cleveland.

As part of Heatwave's team of Rescue Bots, Boulder was the super-strong one. When they received a message from Optimus Prime, they jumped in their spaceship and joined him on Earth, at which point Boulder was given a bulldozer as an alternate mode. As the Rescue Bots headed for Griffin Rock, Blades accidentally chopped down a tree with his rotors, but Boulder was able to catch it. They eventually reached the fire station, where Optimus introduced them to Chief Charlie. Rescue Bots Roll Out Some time later, Chase and Boulder were on their way to Prime Fire Station to join the team when they happened upon a flash flood at a construction site. Boulder used a metal sheet to improvise a ramp so that Chase could jump the flood, and the two Rescue Bots were able to get construction worker Walker to safety. After a freak wave washed away Chase and Hunter, Boulder managed to beat them downstream by taking the direct route, and felled a tree for Chase to grab on to. The four of them later made it to the fire station, where Walker joined the team as Boulder's partner. Rapid Rescue

Boulder was part of a team of Rescue Bots who were finishing a routine patrol in space when they received a distress call. Investigating, they found they'd been marked as lunch by an Energon eater, and had to put themselves in stasis and power down their ship to escape it. Unfinished Business Sometime later, the Sigma received a transmission from Optimus Prime and landed on Earth. After dropping the bombshell that Cybertron was no more, Optimus assigned the team to Griffin Rock to work with the Burns family. The four Rescue Bots were presented to the public by Chief Burns at a ceremony, following which Boulder and his new partner, Graham Burns, drove to the museum to attend to a fire. To Boulder's dismay, he had to ruin the aesthetics of the plaza outside the museum by moving planters. He was impressed by the humans' culture, admiring their paintings. That night, Cody Burns discovered the Rescue Bots' secret, and after they helped stop a rogue robot Tyrannosaurus rex, Chief Burns revealed the truth to the rest of the team. Family of Heroes
Boulder and Graham had trouble working together, as Graham assumed a robot from space wouldn't need help from a primitive human. After Mount Magma started spewing lava and threatening the island, Cody managed to get the pair communicating so they could locate the artificial mountain's release control. Boulder was also able to map the underground cave system when the lava started pouring into it, threatening the bunker under the fire station. Under Pressure
During an attempt to rescue Doc Greene from his out-of-control car, Boulder and Graham improvised a spike strip, which turned out to be ineffective. When Dani and Blades later started hogging the limelight with a new scoop claw, Boulder didn't seem as put out at the other Rescue Bots and even thanked Blades. He and the others rescued Blades after the copter-bot was hit by lightning. Hotshots Boulder was happy enough to take part in the technology parade during the Lobster and Technology Festival, despite his problems in maintaining the guise of an ordinary robot, and later helped stop the flobsters from destroying the town. Flobsters on Parade
After saving a truck from falling off a cliff, Boulder and the other Rescue Bots were subjected to a movie entitled The Natives of Tatooie, which he didn't enjoy very much. After Huxley Prescott caused a massive panic, Boulder and Graham visited Mr. Perkins's farm to check for aliens, only to find cows instead. The Rescue Bots had to destroy Prescott's SETI dish when it threatened to destroy the island. The Alien Invasion of Griffin Rock After a callout to rescue Mrs. Neederlander's cat, Boulder was inspired to adopt his own pet. He and Blades visited the zoo, where they tried to adopt the lion which Boulder dubbed Whiskers. After chasing Whiskers around the town all night, Boulder helped lure some lemurs back to the zoo. Cody gave him a potted plant as a more suitable pet. Walk on the Wild Side
Boulder tried unsuccessfully to catch Mr. Harrison in his scoop. After executing a daring plan to stop a nanite-controlled Scrapmaster, Boulder himself was taken over and rampaged through the park, knocking down trees. Cody's plan to use the power plant to get rid of the nanites worked, and Boulder set about replanting the trees. Cody on Patrol Boulder was working to repair a bridge when a motorist drove off it. Cody roped the Rescue Bots into helping look after a Robo-Baby. When the baby escaped during a call-out, Cody and the bots tracked it to a wind farm, where Boulder tried to scale a windmill to save it, but missed catching it when it fell. Luckily Heatwave caught it. Four Bots and a Baby
During a heatwave, Boulder read up on seasons but was confused by the concept. His questions prompted Cody to get Doc Greene to set up a weather machine, and Boulder got to experience snow, though he proved inept at aiming snowballs. When one of his snowballs sent the machine out of control, he and the other Rescue Bots swung into action. Boulder helped Doc Greene get the weather machine back to his lab and saved City Hall's roof. He later used a well-aimed snowball to save Frankie from going over a waterfall. Christmas in July Boulder and the other Rescue Bots were invited on the Burns' annual fishing trip on the Darby Ava, during which they encountered and fought a mechanical shark. Deep Trouble
The Rescue Bots had to help stop out-of-control technology one foggy day, when the Griffin Rock mainframe was hacked into. Boulder mistook a street sweeper for an elephant and trashed it. Return of the Dino Bot When Doctor Morocco turned up with his MorBot and threatened to overshadow the Rescue Bots, the team was forced to compete with the doctor's invention to prove themselves worthy. Thanks to Morocco's machinations, they failed and were stood down from service. The Other Doctor Boulder maintained his optimism, and used the space time he now had to practice his painting. After being called out to a fire at the lab, the Rescue Bots got the chance to exact some payback on the MorBot. The team was subsequently reinstated as Griffin Rock's rescue service. The Reign of Morocco
Boulder joined Cody and Graham in visiting the Hall of Inspiration and watched Doc Greene demonstrate the Minimizer. When the team later turned up to a break-in at the Hall, he, Blades, and Heatwave were shrunk to the size of ants by the device and ended up in the sewer. Though Boulder was fascinated by the experience, they had to brave huge rats and a torrent of water before making it to the Griffin Rock dam, where they rescued Kade and alerted the rest of the team to the fact that the dam was near bursting. Cody later used the Minimizer to return them to their normal sizes. Small Blessings Boulder helped save Captain Wild's ship and search for "tunnel 15" in the tunnels below Griffin Rock. This led the team to discover Professor Baranova's Midgard at the bottom of an ocean trench, and they helped her seal the methane vent causing the Griffin Rock Triangle. The Griffin Rock Triangle
After the daring rescue of Huxley Prescott by the four bots, Chief left them with strict orders not to go to Griffin Crest. After receiving an apparent SOS from Cody, Boulder and the others went there anyway and ended up immobilized by an EMP field, leaving them in need of a rescue. Rules and Regulations Boulder and the other three Bots were washed out to sea with Cody and ended up on an inhabited island. Their attempts to build him shelter and gather food were less than successful, but they did manage to find traces of the Oaken Crow, which led to them finding the ship and getting off the island. The Lost Bell Chasing a crashed meteorite on Wayward Island, the team ran into Bumblebee. Boulder, Heatwave and Chase checked out the meteorite and were unwittingly exposed to an alien virus. They slowly became to lose the ability to move or speak, and it was only through the work of Bumblebee, Blades and the humans that a cure was found. Bumblebee to the Rescue
Boulder was concerned by the news that Graham had been accepted to the Gremsky Technical Institute, but was supportive of his partner. While they pursued a giant blob of Squilsh, they discussed Graham's decision. The pair cooperated in an attempt to stop the space slime and eventually worked out that they had to shock it with alternating current. After Boulder and Graham did so, saving those it had swallowed, Graham decided not to go to Gremsky Tech after all. You've Been Squilshed After tracer bugs teleported most of the townfolk to parts unknown, Boulder discovered the bugs were sensitive to sound, and devised a way to use his sonar to disable them all. He and the other three bots then tracked down the cavern where the townspeople had been sent and mounted a rescue. Countdown
When an infestation of what appeared to be ghosts hit Griffin Rock, Boulder was fascinated by this new form of life and attempted unsuccessfully to make contact. As it turned out, they were just holograms anyway. The Haunting of Griffin Rock During a Kade-initiated race, Boulder accidentally knocked down the statue of Horace Burns. When Chase and the Chief went missing, Boulder and the rest of the team searched all night, and were eventually led to the lead mine. Boulder used his sonar to track movement in the mine, eventually finding Chase and helping him break out. Little White Lies
The Rescue Bots were forced to be extra attentive to their cover as robots when Frankie started filming them for a school project. It made Boulder's rescues during an earthquake harder. The team tracked the source of the quakes to the tunnels under the town, but while looking for Frankie and Heatwave, Boulder almost caused a huge cave-in with his sonar. Shake Up After Boulder took part in a rescue at a pyrotechnics factory, Cody got a repulsor badge that gave him superhero powers. Boulder was helping with a tire change when the truck's load came loose—he stopped two of the concrete pipes and Cody stopped the third. The Rescue Bots were relegated to cleanup until Cody's badge overloaded, trapping him in a bubble of energy until Boulder managed to extract the badge. Rescue Boy
Boulder helped Graham with his engineering homework. He, the other Rescue Bots, Cody and Frankie were sent back in time to 1939 in a time travel accident. There they fell into the hands of a team of scientists headed by Doctor Morocco who performed experiments on them. Morocco was getting to the point of dissecting the four Bots when Optimus and Bumblebee came to their rescue. On returning to the present, they found that Morocco had taken over the town with the aid of his MorBots. It's a Bot Time The four bots managed to elude the MorBots and soon established that leaving Dither in the past had resulted in the changed. After an encounter with an alternate version of the Burns family, the Rescue Bots returned to 1939 and retrieved Dither, returning the timeline to normal. Bot to the Future
With Doc Greene now in on the Rescue Bots' secret, Boulder teamed up with him to work on inventions using Cybertronian technology. The Vacuum Accelerator they developed proved erratic, transporting the Mobile Headquarters to the top of Mount Griffin with Cody, Heatwave, Chase and Boulder along for the ride. Road Trip During a chase, Boulder became coated in manure, but didn't seem too bothered about it. The Rescue Bots helped construct Frankie Greene's Sky Forest, only to have to rescue the town's citizens when the plant life grew out of control. Sky Forest When Chief Burns was ill, the four bots had to contend with Kade appointing himself new team leader, and Cody being aged into an adult in a lab experiment. One for the Ages
When an iceberg was discovered that was actually a frozen ship carrying a dangerous Sub-Zero Expander, Boulder took part in an attempt to get rid of the device by blowing it up, which was aborted when it turned out Doctor Morocco had claimed the vessel as salvage. The team had to deal with the fallout when the device exploded and froze a five-mile section of ocean. Tip of the Iceberg When Griffin Rock was hit by a major snow storm, Boulder took part in rescuing a trapped skier from Mount Griffin. He also assisted in helping Graham when Blades and Cody were trapped in a virtual reality game. A Virtual Disaster
Boulder along with the rest of the team was mesmerized by a cellphone and sent to mine Blossom Vale. He snapped out of it when his cellphone was broken, and was able to help Cody evade the hypnotized townsfolk. The pair freed everyone from the influence of the cellphones by toppling the island's cell tower, and Boulder believed the vale could be restored with the aid of a painting of it he'd done earlier. Spellbound The team was roped into participating in Huxley Prescott's reality show, however when Prescott manufactured emergencies to make the show more exciting, it caused a fire which endangered the town, and the show was shut down. Boulder later had to help deal with the Squilsh which Prescott had unleashed on the dam. Prescott's Bots
The team had to face a horde of gremlins, conjured from Kade's nightmares by Doc Greene's Nightmare Imaging Device. Blame the Gremlins When a monster was spotted during a star-gazing expedition with Cody, Boulder and the other Rescue Bots helped the boy hunt for the beast, resulting in an encounter with it at an old cannery. It transpired that the "Magic Meat" that Mayor Luskey had been selling was Fo-Foo, an experimental food with lycanthropic side effects, and the team had to track down Luskey and Graham who were both infected. Feed the Beast
When Woodrow Burns visited the island in search of aliens, Boulder helped Cody tail his uncle to a mine. The two humans were spirited away by an excavator, and Boulder had to join the rest of the team in finding them in a cavern deep underground and rescuing them from giant spiders. What Lies Below After Blades, Boulder and the three older siblings were separated from the others, Boulder used his sonar to try to find routes out from the caverns, and they eventually hit upon using the sonar to signal the rest of the team. Once the team was reunited, they escaped from underground by blasting themselves out of the top of Mount Magma. What Rises Above
The Rescue Bots had to bring out their spaceship for another mission to save Graham and Doc Greene after the space elevator they were on was hit by an asteroid. Space Bots Boulder managed to deal with a runaway mechanical bull by putting it into sleep mode. When a mishap occurred while transporting the creature to the Island of Misfit Tech, he, Chase and Blades ended up tussling with a prototype Scrapmaster. The Island of Misfit Tech The town's new central computer Vigil was unable to control the four Rescue Bots, so when it attempted to take control of Griffin Rock, the Bots were able to get the rest of the team into its vault to stop it. The Vigilant Town
Boulder and the other Rescue Bots went on a nature hike, during which the hikers' Buddy Bracelets got locked together. Boulder consequently got to carry Mrs. Neederlander and her cat around as he and Graham tried to wrangle snakes. Buddy System Boulder, Blades and Heatwave accompanied Graham and Cody to Wayward Island, where they discovered a lodestone super-magnet that was causing metal objects to be pulled towards it all the way from Griffin Rock. In Search of the Griffin's Nest
When Chase appeared to join with Evan and Myles during their crime spree, Boulder and the rest of the rescue team found themselves going against him. He later rejoined the team and the four Rescue Bots disabled the Tech Wrecker Evan and Myles had created. Bots and Robbers Following the rescue of a dog, the Rescue Bots were joined in their work by Noble, at least until the dogs real owner turned up to claim him. Rescue Dog The team had to deal with a storm without Heatwave, when their leader was called to the mainland to acquire a second alternate mode. Changes
After the town's midwinter presents were sent to the bottom of the ocean in a ferry accident, Boulder and the rest of the team took on the mantle of the Rider of Midwinter and delivered loaves of bread to the townsfolk. The Riders of Midwinter Boulder's attempt to plant "Leafy" went awry when a Power Planter was struck by lightning and ran wild. After being forced to respond to a number of emergencies caused by the device, the team managed to lure it into a trap with Boil Coils, and Boulder was able to plant Leafy in peace. Movers and Shakers
While Chief was away, the team found itself under Woodrow's leadership. Also the mayor got a pod of dolphins stuck in the wetlands, much to Boulder's disgust. Chief Woodrow Boulder joined in the hunt for a relic, and he and the rest of the team ended up rescuing people from the device's effects, until Optimus Prime and Blades found and deactivated the relic. Odd Bot Out The rescue team was roped into completing a rail tunnel to the mainland, mainly because Mayor Luskey regarded the Bots as heavy machinery. When the Griffin Rock Express went out of control, the Bots had to rescue everyone on board, with the help of Frankie and her phasing technology. The Griffin Rock Express
Following a game of Rescue Ball which was interrupted by an impromptu rescue, Chase and the others found that Blades was acting strangely. They discovered why when they were abducted by Dr. Morocco and replaced by duplicates as Blades had been earlier. Morocco erased their memories and convinced them he had been appointed their Earth liaison by Optimus Prime. The Rescue Bots were promptly sent on a mission to mine gold under Griffin Rock, which barely got started before they trigged a methane explosion, and were confronted by the "criminal" Burns family. Double Villainy
The suspicious Bots were taken back to the fire house, where the evidence soon convinced them that the Burns family was on their side and they'd been misled by Morocco. Unfortunately the methane explosion cause the island to begin to sink, and given the choice between helping out or regaining their memories, the Bots chose the former option. With the help of some tech from Doc Greene, the team was able to raise the island once again, and Morocco was forced to restore their memories. Rise of the Heroes
During a routine inspection by Optimus, the team ended up heading to Wayward Island to investigate a pterodactyl. They found a group of dinosaurs which chased them into a tar pit, and they had to be rescued by Optimus Prime. Once they established what the dinos were upset about, the team was able to get them to return to the underground cavern they'd come from. Land Before Prime When Optimus became feral and was kidnapped by big game hunter Quint Quarry, Boulder, Graham and the Greenes attempted to discover what had gone wrong with the Autobot leader. They concluded that a lack of energon had resulted in Optimus's new dinomode taking over, and once Boulder developed a patch, he scanned a new triceratops alternate mode to test it. Fortunately the cure worked, and Boulder and Graham took it to Quarry's island, where they restored Optimus and helped rescue the other Rescue Bots from Quarry. Big Game
Following the accidental creation of four extra Kades, their squabbling caused an accident during a rescue, sending Boulder off the side of a cliff. Boulder and the team were later saved from a gas leak by the quintet of Kades. Too Many Kades The team was sent ten years forward in time when they boarded the S.S. Phantom Voyager, however Boulder and Graham were able to reverse the time machine stored in the ship's hold, returning them to present day. Phantom of the Sea Following a flooding disaster, Boulder accompanied Chase into space to again try to rescue the stricken spaceship they had encountered before their original trip to Earth, though they found the ship's crew was long gone. Again being attacked by the Energon eater, the pair successfully trapped it and returned with it to Earth. Unfinished Business
Boulder, Graham and Cody visited the Island of Misfit Tech to retrieve a stabilizer so that Doc Greene could activate a protective dome over the island, but unwittingly returned with Vigil as well. Boulder had trouble bringing the dome down after Vigil locked it in place, and pursued the rogue AI, only to end up buried under old cars in the scrapyard. No Place Like Dome As Graham tried to gain confidence to talk to Amy, Boulder encouraged him. He and the other Rescue Bots had to deal with a swarm of mutant metal-eating army ants left behind by Doctor Morocco. Bugs in the System
Boulder took up trying to learn tap dancing, though he didn't think he was very good at it. During a trip on the space elevator Asgard, Boulder switched bodies with Cody, and found he was a better tap dancer as a human. They were later switched back to their own bodies. Switcheroo Boulder and the rest of the team were shrunken down to microscopic size so they could enter Kade's body and retrieve the scrubmites he'd accidentally ingested. Bot-Tastic Voyage Following Professor Baranova's abduction at the hands of Colonel Quarry, Boulder helped the other Rescue Bots scan dinosaur alternate modes so that they, plus Optimus, could masquerade as the dinobots Quarry wanted Doc Greene to build. They were taken to an island by Quarry and put through their paces, before he took them to a boat so he could ship them off to be sold. Luckily Blades, who'd been having trouble with his alternate mode, was able to rescue them and Quarry was arrested. Quarry's Quarry
The team visited Wayward Island to search for an energon trace, but instead found a caveman frozen in ice. After the caveman proved to still be alive, the team tried to help him acclimatize to the modern world, and Boulder particularly empathized with "Ira", feeling a tinge of homesickness himself. After Ira failed to adapt, they had to return the caveman to Wayward Island. Did You See What I Thaw? The team had to cope with giant Kaiju created when Doc Greene's new projector was used to screen Attack of Humungado, and ended up using their dino modes to combat the beasts. The Attack of Humungado
The mayor decided to honor the rescue team by holding Bot Appreciation Week, however a clash in schedules resulted in the Burns family being off the island for the start. The Rescue Bots found they had to contend with the souvenir versions of themselves running amok thanks to Evan and Myles reprogramming them. All Bots Great and Small When Cody began experiencing repeated time, his foreknowledge allowed the rescue team to prevent a number of disasters and mishaps during the dedication of the town's new clock tower. Time After Time
When it was discovered that one of the Burns family ancestors was a pirate, the mayor suspended the whole team. A series of clues led the team to an island where Boulder unearthed a pirate ship containing the treasure and they were able to persuade the mayor to reinstate them. Pirates Ahoy The Rescue Bots found themselves being trained in marine rescues by High Tide, and Boulder was given a surf board to use, though it almost resulted in him ending up at the bottom of the sea. He later took part in a rescue when an oil spill caught fire. Turning the Tide When the time traveler Jules Verne visited, Boulder helped apprehend Dr. Morocco. The Last of Morocco
When the Rescue Bots found two Autobots, Blurr and Salvage, on Wayward Island, Optimus assigned the team to train the two newcomers. Boulder seemed perfectly happy to, even when it turned out Blurr had been lying about his past. The New Recruits While Salvage helped out Boulder and Graham with creating and installing ERVIS, Blurr proved less helpful, resulting in Boulder having to save a human after Blurr botched a rescue. Rescue Bots Academy Searching for Blurr, Boulder and the rest of the team followed Servo back to the fire house to find Blurr had stolen the Sigma and Cody needed rescuing. After a solar flare knocked out the island's power, the town was only saved from a rogue satellite by Blurr, so the rescue team was somewhat better disposed towards him. A New Hero
Boulder and Cody tried to help Servo adapt to pretending to be a robot, though their perceived lack of success was actually a result of Servo looking out for the mayor's dog Poopsie. Four-Legged Hero After finding a family of extremely rare woodpeckers in Blossom Vale, Boulder roped the rest of the team into helping protect them, however it backfired when the rest of town found out and accidentally caused a fire in the grove. I Have Heard the Robots Singing
Boulder and the other Rescue Bots took part in the opening of a time capsule, during which a quantum crystal mishap resulted in the entire island being teleported to the Arctic. The four Bots had to deice the generators so that the island's dome could be raised. Now and Then As the team enacted a plan to fill the dome with floatium and fly the island back, the Rescue Bots had their work cut out keeping people safe. The journey continued, but the Rescue Bots were forced to use their own energon to power the dome. They successfully reached Griffin Rock's old location, and after some medical attention, the Rescue Bots recovered. Optimus gave them a new mission, to let the rest of the town in on their secret. Today and Forever
Over the next three years, Boulder worked on his art and got to the point where he was selling his paintings online. Contact with Optimus gave them a mission to construct a new mainland base, so Boulder started working with Doc Greene and Graham to realize the plan, however work was delayed by an invasion by the Velgrox which resulted in the Rescue Bots being forced to reveal their secret to the townsfolk. New Normal Work continued apace, and soon a GroundBridge was completed. The first test saw Heatwave and Chase deposited in the Sahara, resulting in Boulder, Doc and Graham having to do some reprogramming to get them back. The townsfolk, meanwhile, voted to keep the Rescue Bots' secret. Bridge Building
Boulder's book club meeting was interrupted by an emergency involving a rocket. When Heatwave subsequently restricted the team to their official duties, Boulder contemplated setting up a book club at the fire house. It was not long after that the team encountered a new Rescue Bot named Quickshadow. Arrivals Boulder took part in a mission set up by Quickshadow to transport Phodolite through town, however when part of the load spilled, the rescue team had to rely on Chase's plan B when Quickshadow didn't have one herself. Plus One
Following a mishap in which the town pool froze over, Boulder opted to head to the library and apply for a library card. Unfortunately his attempt was disrupted when a virus temporarily took over the library computers. Back to Virtual Reality When investors were looking at redeveloping the island, the Rescue Bots used Velgrox technology to make themselves invisible and pretend to be ghosts to scare them off. Vanishing Returns
The team took part in Earliween celebrations, and also came up with a plan to foil Evan and Myles when the pair tried to carnap Quickshadow. Ghost in the Machine When Whiskers was abducted from the zoo, the Rescue Bots used their dino modes as bait to lure big game hunter Lord Chumley. Though they themselves were captured, they made the most of their situation, both finding Whiskers and bringing the rest of the team to help arrest Chumley. Enemy of My Enemy Boulder helped Chase run for mayor by campaigning, however when Chase actually took office, the changes he made interfered with the team's ability to do their job. Mayor May Not
After determining it was time to celebrate All Spark Day, Boulder instead found himself helping with a sea rescue and pretending to be a stuffed frog to keep a giant-size CeCe Greene happy. With the help of the rest of town, the Bots got to celebrate All Spark Day after all. All Spark Day When the town's communications tower required replacing, the team took on second jobs — Boulder attempted landscaping and garbage collection. The townsfolk later chipped in with enough cash to replace the tower. Part-Time Heroes
Boulder attended the opening of the mainland Rescue Bot Training Center, though rather than take part in the festivities, he and Graham worked on importing CeCe Greene's scan into the security system, only for the computer to put the base into lockdown. The More Things Change... The pair continued to try to debug the system until a suggestion from Cody led them to discover that CeCe's imprint had been added to the computer's personality by accident. The More Things Stay the Same
During a series of motor races, the Bots had to first deal with a collapsing stand full of spectators, and then with runaway racers thanks to an errant invention. Hot Rod Bot Boulder found a bottle containing a document that suggested the Burns family were actually royalty, he regretted it when Kade was promptly crowned King. He hit the library and was eventually able to find a document that revealed that Horace Burns had actually turned down the throne. King Burns During the Pizza Pi Party, Boulder promised to team up with Frankie for the maths competition, though he was delayed installing new solar panels with Graham. When the town was threatened by out-of-control pizza dough, the pair joined the rest of the team in stopping it. Pizza Pi Party
While running practice drills in the Training Center, the team had to save a Cybertronian ship that crash-landed. Boulder set about repairing the ship while the others took the occupant, Bumblebee, on a tour of the center, however when it turned out an energon eater had also arrived aboard the ship, he joined the others in trying to catch it, and ended up in stasis after it attacked him. He was woken back up once the creature was captured. Uninvited Guest When Blades, Graham and Cody uncovered Chickadee's operation to find some lost gems, the rest of the team managed to apprehend her. Camp Cody
Investigating some mysteriously falling Spruces resulted in Chase, Boulder, Chief and Graham temporarily getting lost in the woods. Once Upon a Time When the Mini-Con Bounce escaped to Griffin Rock, the team helped Sideswipe recapture him. The Need for Speed
When Madeline Pynch got hold of a chunk of Energon, Boulder realized that the Pynch-Cells she was creating with it were unstable, and the rescue team put into action a plan to recover the Energon and arrest Pynch. Boulder acted as a comms tower so he and Graham could hijack the local cellular network and intercept Pynch's phone calls. Cody's 11 When Dani's test space mission ran into trouble, the team headed into space in the Sigma to mount a rescue. To Infinity... And Back
When Cody was trying to work out what sort of rescue worker to become, Boulder and Graham attempted without success to interest him in engineering. Family Business The Bots found themselves having to maintain their robot disguises when Maven Danger stayed at the firehouse as research for his new movie, though it later turned out the visit was just so Maven's agent Skip Scobble could attempt to steal a rare book. A Brush with Danger
The team was surprised to discover a whole town in China knew about them, when they were called there to deal with some out-of-control Scrubbers. Afterwards Optimus promptly reassigned them, with Boulder and Blurr being Chase's team protecting Professor Baranova's laboratory on the west coast. When it turned out the Morocco virus was back and had built a new MorBot, the team were unable to stop him from stealing technology from the lab. Upgrades The team came back from a hike to discover that Morocco was still around and had taken over the Training Center. After Blurr and Baranova reached the center, they were able to use the GroundBridge to bring Chase, Boulder and Graham in to help devirus the mainframe. Optimus later assigned Boulder and Graham to build a new human/Bot community on the west coast. Transformations

The recruits joined Boulder on a mission to a remote island to rescue some penguins who were endangered by an oncoming electrical storm. He was able to save the majority of the penguins, but the storm resulted in him being separated from the recruits, who had to rescue the remaining penguins themselves. He later left them to deal with the creatures once they got out of hand. Escape from Penguin Island A satellite that Boulder had imbued with Cybertronian tech later crashed and had to be retrieved by the recruits. Dig Fest
When Boulder took the recruits on a space mission to repair a satellite, he was disappointed to discover that they'd ejected their trash into space, causing an unexpected hazard that jeopardized the mission. Flying Hunk-A-Junk Boulder constructed a replacement battery for a deep-sea submersible drone. Into the Depths Boulder participated in a relay race carrying Grimlock as a pretend rescue victim, but lost to Wedge. Best Bots Forever Part 1 He was in attendance as the recruits graduated from their first year at the academy. Best Bots Forever Part 2
Boulder had the recruits practice transforming on the Moon. He was later surprised to discover they'd also constructed a robotic suit for Cody. Robo-Cody He supervised Hoist's latest engineering exercise. Wild Ghost Chase Boulder and the recruits visited dwarf planets in the outer reaches of the solar system to retrieve soil samples. When it later turned out Medix has loosened the Galax on the academy's garden, Boulder was able to use the soil samples to determine a more suitable home for the plant. Little Plot of Horrors Boulder attended the opening of the Museum of Future Tech Art in Griffin Rock. Museum Mystery Boulder attended the charity performance of the Griffin Rock Ballet School. Shall We Dance? Boulder called the students to his science class over the PA system. Campfire Fright
Believing that Scraplets could be trained to work with rescuers, Boulder obtained five of the critters and assigned the recruits the task of training them. He later sent the recruits on a mission to Cybertron to help Sludge and Snarl prevent a power plant from exploding, and was pleased to find Medix had successfully tamed the Scraplets enough to help. How To Train Your Scraplet
Boulder was among the observers as the recruits undertook their final test of year two. He later attended the party aboard Citadel Secundus, and was put into stasis lock when an asteroid hit the Titan and created an anti-energon field. Space Party He and the rest of the teaching staff were revived after Secundus was landed safely on Earth, and attended the recruits' graduation ceremony. Crash Of The Titan

Rescue Bots
- Boulder the Construction-Bot (2011)
- Boulder transforms into a bright green construction vehicle of a likely fictitious design. Like the rest of the Rescue Bots, Boulder features a partially automated transformation: pulling his treads out to form his arms also causes his head to pop up and causes the
bucketbladefront section to push forward and separate into the legs. Although not readily obvious, Boulder has a silver Autobot symbol on his torso / the top of his cab.
- This figure was redecoed for the Energize toyline, casting some parts in translucent blue plastic. It was also retooled to give it sockets capable of holding the newly included eponymous implement. The retooled version was later redecoed in cartoon-accurate colors and given a limited re-release in 2018.
- Boulder the Construction-Bot (2018)
- After 5 years of discontinuation, the original Boulder figure saw a limited rerelease in late 2018. The figure's colors now look more towards the show, and the energize version's tooling is left intact. His drill accessory is now silver.
Energize
- Boulder the Construction-Bot (2013)
- Accessories: Rescue drill
- A redeco of the original mold, Boulder now has his arms and hands in translucent blue plastic. His scoop feet have been retooled to have 5 mm post-holes on either side to accommodate the new "rescue drill" accessory, though the stock photography does not show this off very well.
- Boulder the Construction-Bot and Doc Greene (Figure 2-Pack, 2013)
- Available in a two-pack with Doc Greene, Boulder is a non-transforming soft-plastic figure based heavily on the cartoon model (with a few extra details). He features some basic posability, with shoulder, wrist and joined-hip articulation, his left hand replaced by a rescue drill that sadly does not spin freely (though it does turn). He comes with a static figurine of human ally Doc Greene.
- Boulder the Construction-Bot and Graham Burns (Figure 2-Pack, 2014)
- An unchanged Boulder was later available alongside an equally unchanged Graham Burns previously partnered with Bumblebee.
Beam Box
- Boulder the Construction-Bot (2013)
- Boulder is a non-transforming figure with no articulation, mounted on a rocky base. Inserting him into the Beam Box Game System unlocks Boulder in the game.
Rescan Series
- Boulder the Construction-Bot (2014)
- Released within the 4th wave of 2014 "Rescan" figures (a smaller, less expensive price point in-line with the other Playskool "Heroes" toys), Boulder transforms from a rather compact little dump truck into a robot in a few short steps. He features knee articulation, though only due to his transformation. He also has 5 mm fist holes, though most things pegged into them need to be done underhand due to a lack of clearance. Care, and quite a bit of force, is required to peg the dump bed/feet into the cabin, to keep it from auto-transforming for robot mode.
- Like many figures from the line, the actual figure is missing a number of paint apps shown in the back-of-box photo, such as additional silver detailing on the waist, toes, shins and helmet, and construction stripes on the feet. Meanwhile, the version shown in Hasbro's stock promotional photo (at right) somehow has less detail, with the wheels cast in the same green as the main body, despite them being black on the actual figure.
- Boulder the Construction Bot (2016)
- Released in the first wave of 2016 Rescan figures, Boulder is functionally a smaller version of his original toy, only now based more on the show model. He transforms from bulldozer to robot and back with a single step, triggered by his arms. He features numerous 5 mm ports in both modes to attach Rescue Mini-Cons or anything else with the appropriate post.
- This toy was also included in the "Griffin Rock Rescue Team Set" and re-released with Rescue Bots Academy branding, both times with no notable changes.
- Griffin Rock Rescue Team Set (4-pack, 2016)
- This box set contains the show-based "Rescan" versions of Boulder, Blades, and Chase, plus the "Hook & Ladder Heatwave" cab-robot minus the trailer unit. All four toys are identical to their individual releases.
- Arctic Rescue Boulder (Rescue pack, 2017)
- Part of a multi-character set, this version of Boulder transforms into a heavy-duty arctic plow. The plow-blade has multiple 5 mm post-holes on it, as it forms his "hands" in robot mode. His vehicle-mode bed also has a 5 mm post-hole for mounting rescue gear, as well as a pair of slots that allows the included Windchill to attach in drill-ski mode.
- Also included in the set is an arctic-gear-bedecked Graham Burns figure.
- This set (and the same-wave "Bumblebee Rock Rescue Team") popped up in stores with absolutely no release announcements beforehand. Surprise!
- The main figure was redecoed and slightly retooled with a new head into Rescue Bots Academy Wedge, omitting Graham and Windchill.
Mini Dinos
- Boulder the Rescue Dinobot (2014)
- Part of the second wave of Mini Dinos, Boulder transforms from a construction-themed Triceratops to a robot in a few easy steps. He features articulation at his shoulders and is among the first Rescue Bots toys to have such articulation. Pressing the blue part of his back activates a headbutt attack.
- This mold was later redecoed into Dinobot Adventures Dinobot Striker Slug.
Epic Figures
- Boulder the Construction-Bot (2014)
- As part of the Epic Figures, Boulder is a 12-inch tall non-transforming figure with basic articulation. His chest opens up to fit 2-Pack human figures, and he features 5 mm ports to interact with Energize rescue tools.
Featured Bots
- Boulder the Construction-Bot (Featured Bot, 2015)
- Featured Bot Boulder is a non-transforming, super-deformed figure with a spinning drill gimmick, which can be activated by pushing the switch on his left shoulder!
Megabots
- Quick Dig Boulder (Megabots, 2018)
- Accessories: Hoe-claw
- Released in wave 4 of the Megabots subline, Quick Dig Boulder transforms into an excavator with 4 treads.
Flip Racers
- Griffin Rock Construction Team (Multipack, 2017)
- Part of the first wave of three-pack Flip Racers, Boulder transforms automatically from bulldozer to robot when the vehicle mode is lifted up and placed on its end. He comes in a pack with Salvage and Mortar as part of the "Griffin Rock Construction Team".
- Griffin Rock Stunt Team (Multipack, 2017)
- Part of the second wave of three-pack Flip Racers, this new Boulder transforms automatically from monster truck to robot. He comes in a pack with Heatwave and Quickshadow as part of the "Griffin Rock Construction Team".
- Speedster Boulder (Single, 2018)
- Part of the third wave of single-pack Flip Racers, Boulder now turns automatically from hot rod to robot.
Rescue Bots Academy
- Boulder the Construction Bot (2020)
- Boulder's single-packed Rescan-sized bulldozer toy was re-released with Rescue Bots Academy branding, with no notable changes.
Merchandise
Playskool Friends
- Transformers Collector Pack (Canceled)
- Intended to be released as part of the 7-pack for the Playskool Friends lineup, this Boulder is a very adorable non-transforming figurine. He comes packed with Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Arcee, and the rest of the Rescue Bots: Heatwave, Chase, and Blades.
Notes
- Boulder is the only Rescue Bot to not share a name with a previous incarnation, though he does share a name with the leader of the heroic Rock Lords, from the ill-fated spinoff of the GoBots. His status as the big, green friendly guy on the team seems to take a few cues from Animated Bulkhead.
- Although, compared to the three other main members of the team, he's actually the shortest.
- Unlike the other bots in his franchise, Boulder's visor is simply a color change of optics.
- Boulder is the only original Rescue Bot not to have been assigned to a recruit.
