Crossblades covers his arms in leather. Top ganz.

Crossblades could probably stand to shut up about what a great pilot he is, both on land and in the air. He could also maybe not corner everyone he knows and regale them with every fascinating detail about every addition he makes to his vast and obsessively maintained arsenal. His friends would have an easier time pointing these things out if Crossblades weren't such a legitimately dedicated and hard-working bot, but for now they're resigned to suffer.

Marvel The Transformers comics

In an alternate future where the Decepticons had all but conquered America, Crossblades was one of the few surviving Autobots. As part of a desperate last-ditch raid, he was assigned to destroy the force field generator protecting Galvatron's New York City installation. Despite a barrage of weapons-fire and the destruction of his primary rotor by Laserbeak, Crossblades managed to crash into the generator, destroying it at the cost of his own life. In 1973, Powermaster Optimus Prime - A Robot, a Hero Crossblades took command of a mission to defend an oil tanker off the American coast. His strategy: Several Pretenders would fly in and make an obvious attack run, distracting the Decepticons from a submarine carrying Pretender shells. Crossblades ensured the US Coast Guard was aware of the Autobot involvement to prevent friendly fire, then made his attack. The Decepticons were driven off, and Crossblades rescued the humans. (Either he or his shell can apparently shrink to human size.) A Big Day for Powermaster Optimus Prime Those events would later be observed via log recording by Autobots in the year 2008. Holy crap, Crossblades is a Pretender??

In 2012, Crossblades was stationed with several other Pretenders in Japan within Skyhammer under the leadership of Metalhawk. He was present one day when Rad reported from the Ironworks base in Oregon about a foiled attack by Gigatron and his Decepticons. Soon thereafter, due to the actions of an evil Ultra Magnus from another dimension, a rift of space time opened over Earth, causing catastrophes worldwide. Crossblades assisted his peers in evacuating a devastated city block. Invasion

Thanks to his Pretender shell, Crossblades was teleported off of his dimensionally-displaced Earth to another dimension by Gaea. The Future Buried... Crossblades and his allies set out to uncover the mysteries of the new world they had been transported to; while all the cities and animals on this planet were the same as Earth's, no humans appeared to have called this world home prior to their arrival. Buster set up Crossblades, Spike, Vroom, and Elizabeth with an apartment in Yucatan, but the group found it difficult to both get themselves employed and investigate a mysterious radio signal burst detected in the area. While out on a walk with Vroom, Crossblades came upon Spike rescuing a father and daughter from a car crash. The two Autobots came to his aid, hiding their Cybertronian strength during the rescue to avoid anti-Transformer sentiments from the onlookers. The trio then met up with Elizabeth and Metalhawk, and went out to dinner. After their meal, they were accosted by a mugger, who wound up shooting Metalhawk in the chest. Assembly The wound barely phased Metalhawk, but the spilling of energon betrayed his human disguise. Crossblades and Vroom leaped onto the mugger, and asked Metalhawk what they were to do with him. Before Metalhawk could come up with a solution to their predicament, two officers of the local police force turned up. The group was taken to the Merida Police Station, but were released after being briefly questioned; their mugger hadn't said anything for fear of implicating himself in his crime, and the police had no grounds to hold them any further. As soon as they exited the building, Crossblade's group was met with a mysterious man, who claimed he knew the truth about the Autobots' identities, and warned that an evil force was coming... Insight

Though Crossblades and company were highly suspicious of the man, they agreed to follow him nonetheless, as he claimed to have a spaceship stashed nearby. As they camie upon the craft however, the man revealed himself to be a Decepticon Pretender, and opened fire on Spike to provoke the Autobots into unveiling their true natures as well. Crossblades demanded an explanation for this sudden outburst, and the Decepticon provided it: he wanted to test the fighting capabilities of his fellow Cybertronians. The Decepticon went on to explain the recent history of the Autobot/Decepticon war that had transpired in this universe, his speech culminating in the revelation that Crossblades's group was dealing with the local Megatron! "Oh no, am I going to have to crash and explode into that thing too?"

When Bludgeon's Decepticons attacked Cybertron with the Warworld, Crossblades took to the sky alongside Blades, Doubleheader, Skyhammer, Cloudraker, Dogfight, Jetfire, and the Aerialbots and participated in the assault on the Warworld as part of a diversionary tactic devised by Prowl to allow the Wreckers to sneak aboard the Decepticon mothership. Crossblades transforms into what is allegedly a Cybertronic "dragster". His outer Pretender Shell resembles a large armored human, and can transform into a badly-propotioned helicopter. Crossblades can be stored inside his shell in either of his modes, and his vehicle mode can combine with the shell to form a helicopter with a Cybertronic "dragster" sticking out of its front.
