Editorial Reviews

Review

"One of my best reads on #Ansible so far!

It's been a while that I've been looking for a really good read on Ansible – fortunately, I found this book: Ansible for Real-Life Automation!

Automation is a big part of my job – writing scripts, using Terraform – and I'm quite happy with that. The problem was I'm not so hands-on with Ansible, and I really wanted to overcome this technical debt.

But now, after reading this book, I'm much more familiar with the hands-on part of Ansible and and no longer frightened to use it.

The technical books that I like are those that guide you with baby steps at the very beginning and then gradually move toward more complex situations and use cases, and that is the case with this book.

The chapters I appreciated the most were those regarding automation in cloud/DevOps/container-based environments (chapters 7, 9, and 10).

Another one of the chapters I loved was the one that walks through secret management for cloud-native environments, which I use heavily on one of my current projects.

I loved this book. I recommend it to anyone who does automation in their day-to-day jobs!"

Ansible for Real-Life automation will help any IT professional streamline their infrastructure management processes. It provides a practice guide to using Ansible for automation and configuration management across many different scenarios.

After a brief introduction to what Ansible is and how to deploy it, the author describes simple automation tasks that can be done, and then moves in to how multiple engineers can work with and share Ansible artifacts.

One thing I was glad to see is how to use Ansible with Microsoft Windows servers using WinRM, and other API-based systems. Ansible is not just for Linux!

Overall a good book, with lots of examples, and definitely a great reference. It fills in a lot of gaps for me, especially when I was just getting started with Ansible.

I have this book. I know the printing is not the best but don’t judge this book by that. This book is very loaded with precise knowledge of Ansible. I don’t know the Author, he does not know me. I’m not getting paid for this comment. If you really want to learn about Ansible, this is the book. You won’t regret it.

Code snippets are very blurred. Do we also have color copy of this book for abroad and black and white for India? This is frustrating when you pay 2.5k and get this quality. I am sure code snippets are color screenshots taken from IDEs that's why it's not clear when printed in black and white
