Parade of planets to be visible from inside Russia until mid-March — scientists

Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune will align in the night sky, joined later by Mercury

NOVOSIBIRSK, January 21. /TASS/. Six planets will line up in the skies on Tuesday, and those residing in Russia will have an opportunity to observe this rare cosmic event until March 2025, the Novosibirsk State University’s press service has told TASS.

Earlier, head of the methodological support department of the Moscow Planetarium Lyudmila Koshman told TASS that Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune will align in the night sky, joined later by Mercury. Four of them will be visible to the naked eye.

Parades of four planets are normally observed once or twice a year, but any more than that is a rare occurrence.

"This parade of planets will be visible until mid-March. It is best observed immediately after sunset," the press service said. "The planets are quite bright, and will be visible even to urban dwellers."

The current parade of planets can be seen via numerous optical devices, including binoculars, telescopes and even cameras with telescopic lenses.
