WASHINGTON, January 21. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order declaring that the United States will recognize only two genders, male and female, and upend gender ideology.
"It is the policy of the United States to recognize two sexes, male and female. These sexes are not changeable and are grounded in fundamental and incontrovertible reality," reads the document released on the White House’s website. According to it, "sex" shall refer to an individual’s "immutable biological classification" and is not a synonym for gender identity, "a fully internal and subjective sense of self." Under the order, "women" and "girls" shall mean adult and juvenile human females, and "men" and "boys" - adult and juvenile human males, respectively.
The document criticizes gender ideology that classifies the category of sex as "a self-assessed gender identity" and the claim by gender ideologues allowing men to self-identify themselves as women and women as men as wrong. Among other things, Trump ordered to ensure that intimate single-sex spaces "are designated by sex and not identity."
Federal agencies are instructed to take steps to end the federal funding of gender ideology. The attorney general shall ensure that no federal funds are expended for any medical sex change procedure, according to the order.
The US leader authorized his assistant for legislative affairs to present proposed bill text to codify the definitions mentioned in the order within 30 days of its date.
