Notepod is a new sketchbook for iPhone UI designers from Australia-based Jacky Winter Group and Inventive Labs. They look like the perfect complement to the iPhone Stencil Kit from Design Commission. $17.95 through PayPal.
Panelfly looks like the way to read comic books on your iPhone or iPod Touch. It’s got a gorgeous UI and a great implementation of in-app purchasing. I don’t even read comic books, but I think I’ll be giving this a shot.
Ramp Champ ($1.99 on the App Store) is a new iPhone game from the IconFactory and DS Media Labs. It has a gorgeous custom UI and fantastic marketing, with all the charm of a classic boardwalk game.
Square is a new product which allows merchants to accept credit card payments using an iPhone. It relies on a physical device, which plugs into the iPhone’s audio jack, to scan the credit cards. Receipts can then be retrieved digitally online. I believe the name for this was previously rumored as the “Acorn,” though I suppose it was adapted to reflect a change in the devices shape. The product comes primarily from Twitter inventor, Jack Dorsey, and has a rock-star team of developers and designers behind it.
For those starting to look at getting into the iPhone app market, I highly recommend the recently released iPhone App Entrepreneur, written by David Appleyard and published by Rockable Press. The book is a great mix of design/development tips, marketing strategies, the ins and outs of the App Store, and also features an interview by yours truly about the state of web apps, native apps, and some general app store advice. ZipCar has released their iPhone app, which they demoed at WWDC in April:

I love patterntap.com and ui-patterns.com for looking at UI and design inspiration for websites. However the majority of my work revolves around mobile now and I haven’t found anything quite like these sites for iphone and Android apps.
