The Data behind "Childless Cat Ladies"

WaPo's Dept. of Data looks at the numbers. (gift link) In a similar fashion to Trump being confused about Harris being both Indian and Black, I stand for all of us who have cats and dogs. We're out, we're proud, we're spending too much on cat food because the dogs keep sneaking in and helping themselves to it.

This is pronouns.page. This is a thread for everyone who feels like they need a place to expand their pronoun usage. Unpupular opinions for breaches of beachside conduct

"I unclipped her leash and Kit began to saunter, then run, one step ahead of the frothy surf, like a sandpiper. The wind pinned her floppy ears against her head, and she flung herself down to roll ecstatically in some dead, washed-up thing. She looked happy; she looked free; she looked right. In that, Kit wasn’t alone—many dogs love the beach. But the beach doesn’t love our dogs." [more inside]

How long I have waited…

We all know that our pets love us. They snuggle up to us when we’re cold. They cheer us up when we’re feeling down. And the looks that they sometimes give us can make our hearts melt—sometimes it seems like they’re looking straight into our souls. (SLBuzzFeed, h/t Miss Cellania)

NEOZOON is a female art collective based in Berlin and Paris. Their work focuses on the relationship between animals and humans, and how modern societies deal with both dead and living animals. Neozoon actions take place in public spaces: city streets, public institutions and the web. Their artistic mediums range from collage to installations and film. Recycling found footage is also a recurring element in their work, where the group often employs amateur videos from YouTube.

There is a reason why dog owners have coined the term "poopsicle."

The weird things dogs do when they poop serve a purpose. Afterwards, be sure to monitor the color of their poop to keep abreast of their health. And don't be too upset when they eat poop. It's probably an ancient pack-survival behavior. They'll even venture outside the species and eat cat poop—it smells like cat food to them.

Minnark is a cat who lives in Al Ain with his camel friends

Minnark is a cat who lives in Al Ain with his camel friends, Mr. Buzzer and Mr. Buzzer’s mom.  Minnark goes for camel rides and traverses camel necks like a bridge. He gets lots of camel cuddles. When winter ends, he chomps off mom’s winter coat. Minnark and Mr. Buzzer enjoy each others’ tails. The camels’ food trough is a great place for cat & camel socializing. Sometimes Mr. Buzzer is a pest. One time this happened.   (All links are to twitter. Names are from google translate.) [more inside]
