The simple cat and dog comics of Q-Rais

Q-Rais is a Japanese illustrator/cartoonist who draws short stories about cats and dogs. The site is all in Japanese, but the comics generally speak for themselves. You can also browse the site through Google Translate for a bit of auto-translated context, or enjoy a context-free gallery on Imgur.

Vic Onion

A comic about the interior struggle of onions. This is not a gag-a-week webcomic, it is a long form comedy about opposing philosophies of growing up, love, work and friendship. It is also about an onion who lives with a sphinx cat.

Manfried the Man

Manfried the Man is the new comic by Caitlin Major about the absolutely adorable hijinks of Manfried, who entertains his owner Steve, a middle-aged single cat. "Manfried is a grumpy, lazy, balding, overfed pet man. He is prone to inappropriate displays of affection, sleeping in the sun, leaving his coarse body hair all over the couch, and willfully knocking things off tables and benches. He keeps Steve company though, and occasionally will kill a mouse or spider to save Steve." Also appearing so far is Roger, the pet man belonging to Steve's neighbor Chelsea.

Office computer overheating? I'll get right on it.

You may be familiar with the 'business cat' memes I Should Buy A Boat Cat (aka Sophisticated Cat) and Business Cat (see also). And perhaps you followed Matthew Inman's workplace adventures of the Bobcats at The Oatmeal. More recently, Tom Fonder at Happy Jar has been developing a subset of comics centered on his own version of a cat who also happens to be a CEO. So far: Coffee; Briefcase; Pay Rise; Poster; and Fight and Flight.

The Hole in the Wall on Top Shelf!

The Hole in the Wall [via mefi projects] is our own interrobang's surrealistic cat story now being serialized at Top Shelf Comics as part of their new Webcomics section, and it's definitely something special - pen & ink & watercolor adventures of two cats exploring a mysterious and dangerous underground landscape. More comics like this will be posted there depending on the popularity of this one, so if you love art, great comics, or cats, you will want to check it out. This was a part of interrobang's Year in Comics project, so if you fall in love with the Hole in the Wall kittehs (you will!), go have look at his other stuff, as well.

Ivan Ho!

Ivan Brunetti, in addition to drawing dirty little comics (nsfw) and illustrations, has a great collection of vintage photographs of models, both demure and not-so-demure (again, nsfw), Hollywood starlets, cats, and comics ephemera. Finally, he also has a blog featuring a Doodle-a-Day.

Here, Kitty kitty...

If you have a cat, you'll recognize many of these immediately. Although some of them are availiable in a book, many of these have only appeared in the comic so far. Luckily, someone with far more spare time than I have has collected them for our enjoyment.

He never got as famous as Gary Larson or Edward Gorey, and is best known for his cat pictures, but the rest of his bizarre brand of vulgar social commentary is worth attention. He's B. Kliban, and his humor ranges from the strangely funny to the surreal. More of this gallery here.
