Mr B, The Gentlemen Rhymer - who you may know for his chap-hop ditties 'Chap-Hop History', 'Songs For Acid Edward and Hip-Hop Was To Blame After All' has a side project as The Gentlemen Selector with Acid Ragtime and has dropped the first gramophone platter 'Vegetables'

Well, that was a nice little rabbit hole. It seems every year or two I go back to him & Professor Elemental and do a swing through Chap Hop's gloriously twee oeuvre for a couple of hours.
I had completely missed B's sadly apt World Cup tribute from 2010 (which was perfect for Team England this past year as well), and Professor E's panegyric to his homeland (featuring a Mr. B cameo, no less) is sweetly smashing.

Nice — looking forward to listening to some more of this.
I'm getting a little bit of a Mocean Worker vibe off the first track…

Mr B and Professor Elemental's feud was stopped for tea a few years back.

I'm not on whole inclined to get into white-guy novelty hip-hop stuff these days, but the man plays a mean banjolele.

I'm still a fool for Elemental's rule. Fighting Trousers states the case. Posthaste.

Oh, wow, it appears that this guy is also Reginald Pikedevant. I mean, that's gotta be him, right? Glue some gears on it!

It's hard to explain, but what sells or fails a lot of this kind of house-ish music is the drums. Samples, production, everything about them.
These drums kick ass, and this is coming from a sort of connoisseur of drums who has spent hours tweaking a sample and the effects on it.
I'm excited to hear more. Not only is this an interesting take on the whole 90s house revival bit, but the production is top notch.

That was awesome. I loved it.
And it totally didn't clear anything up for me, at all.
