Minor League Wrap-Up: 4/7/06

Tacoma bombed Colorado Springs, 10-2. The Tacoma sticks came alive in this one. Four Rainiers (Choo, Bohn, Jones, Cabrera) had multi-hit efforts in a game that was decided by the end of the fifth. After Bobby Livingston began to faulter a bit in fourth giving up two runs, the Rainiers countered with a five run fourth and then a four run fifth. Adam Jones led the charge with a double, triple and four RBI. Asdrubal Cabrera also broke out of his shell by smacking three hits and walking in his other plate appearance. Other than a shaky fourth, Livingston was smooth as he went five giving up those two runs on five hits while walking no one and striking out two. The relief of Renee Cortez and Aaron Looper (who's 29 now) was superb as they both held the Sky Sox bats in check.

Notables:

Bobby Livingston: 5.0 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 2 K.
Relief: 4.0 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K.
Shin-soo Choo: 2-4, 1 BB, 1 RBI.
T.J. Bohn: 2-4.
Mike Morse: 0-4, 1 RBI.
Adam Jones: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 3B, 4 RBI.
Asdrubal Cabrera: 3-3, 1 BB, 2 RBI.
Rob Johnson: 1-4, 1 RBI.
Jose Morban: 1-4, 1 2B.

San Antonio shutout Corpus Christi, 5-0. The Ron Villone deal is starting to look pretty good. Yorman Bazardo was death on the Hooks' batters as he went six fantastic innings giving up only a single to J.R. House while walking one and fanning two. Jason Mackintosh and Mike Flannery (the other guy acquired for Villone) came into to close it out and allowed only one baserunner for the rest of the game. On the offensive side, the Missions swung freely and collected 13 hits including three from Wladimir Balentien. Bryan LaHair also homered and doubled to help lead the San Antonio attack.

Notables:

Yorman Bazardo: 6.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K.
Sebastien Boucher: 2-5, 1 RBI.
Jason Bourgeois: 2-5.
Jeff Clement: 1-5, 1 2B.
Wladimir Balentien: 3-4, 1 BB.
Bryan LaHair: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 HR, 3 RBI.
Little Garciaparra: 1-3, 1 RBI.
Oswaldo Navarro: 1-2, 2 BB.

Inland Empire and High Desert were postponed due to rain. The 66ers will play a doubleheader on April 15th to make up the game.

Wisconsin was blanked by Peoria, 3-0. Poor, poor Justin Thomas. Thomas threw well enough for a W in this one as he went six innings allowing an unearned run on six hits while walking a guy and K'ing four. Unfortunately, Chiefs starter Todd Blackford was dynamite holding the T-Rats to five singles and a walk over five innings. The Peoria bullpen was even more impressive as only two Wisconsin players reached base after the 5th (both walks). Needless to say, there is nothing much to say about the offense.

Notables:

Justin Thomas: 6.0 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K.
Michael Saunders: 2-4.
Luis Valbuena: 1-4.
Bryan Sabatella: 1-3, 1 BB.
Eddy Hernandez: 1-4.
