Brittany- On University Ave in the U District. Such an incredibly simple outfit that works so well. Sometimes a few classic pieces are suited best without adding vibrant accessories. I love her knee highs. I have a few and can't ever seem to make them stay up... they always end up hovering right around my upper calf area. Whenever I see someone wearing them without fidgeting/pulling/situating I am incredibly impressed and jealous.

Kirby & Christine- At 10th & Pike on Capitol Hill. Kirby has a fashion blog called Tea Party where he posts things that inspire in the world of fashion, art, and photography. Definitely check it out, he finds some truly beautiful and outstanding photos around the web.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

After much deliberation over all of the amazing places serving Thanksgiving Dinner that I read about on Veganscore (thanks again Anika, that list was amazing!) we have decided to cook... well sort of. Last weekend we went to Sidecar for Pigs Peace in the U-District and picked up a bag full of Field Roast goodies. This year we are having their "Meat" loaf instead of the Celebration Roast and we are also trying out their White Truffle Country Pate and Herbed Choa "Cheese". In addition, our friends who are having us over are making us vegan stuffing, sweet potato pie, grilled asparagus, mashed potatoes (which we are bringing Tofurky gravy for), a fruit salad with mangos, papaya, berries and pomegranate, and an endless list of desserts. We will be drinking wine from Substance and Pepperwood Grove and having a champagne toast. After a long run in the rain tomorrow morning it's off to this vegan Thanksgiving extravaganza!

To any of you who took advantage of the incredible Vegan Thanksgiving dinners at all the restaurants around town I would LOVE to hear about it! It was hard to decide not to check one out (Plum just about had us) but a thanksgiving in with friends sounded just right this year.

Shannon & Marie- At the Ballard Sunday Farmer's Market. These two had just left one of my very favorite places in Seattle, Souvenir, where Marie got the gorgeous brooch on her lapel. What a find! I have written about Curtis Steiner's gallery/shop Souvenir a few times and I can't encourage you enough to make a trip there to see what all the fuss is about. You will leave feeling incredibly inspired and also quite possibly in a little pain over the treasures you had to leave behind there.

John & Caitlin- Between 15th & 16th on Pine.

Her boots and unique tights, his coat and cuffed pants, their happy faces on a cold rainy day... I was in a big rush but I just had to stop these two for a quick photo. I often times start to think we are limited this time of year in the Northwest by our weather but really it's just a great excuse to get creative with accessories and layering. We Seattleites tends to be quite savvy in this area. We get a lot of practice.

This is long overdue but we went to Sutra in Wallingford a while back and I have been meaning to post about it since. The menu at Sutra changes every few days in order to utilize the current available local and organic ingredients that Seattle and the surrounding areas have to offer in order to create a creative and thoughtful vegan pre fixe dinner each weekend. Our evening was incredible from the moment we arrived and were greeted by the the staff who would be creating and serving us our dinner from the small efficient open air kitchen.

We started off with Blueberry Hybiscus Sparkling Elixer w/ agave nectar. Not too sweet and completely refreshing.

The smoked lentils used to create the first course were created in Sutra's in house smoker that has never seen meat. I had never heard of smoking things other than fish and meat but after eating this dish I can't believe it isn't done more often.

Doyle- At the underground flea market of the Fremont Sunday Farmer's Market. He got his eye catching glasses in New York. I have seen a lot of glasses that I like at vintage shops and antique stores lately. I think that my next pair will be a recycled frame that I bring into the eye doctor to have my prescription added.

Herschell, Liana & Alice- Downtown at 1st & Pine.

I traded places with these three a few Sunday's ago. They were visiting downtown from Ballard and I was waiting for the bus Downtown to head over to the Ballard Farmer's market.

Sarah, Ogechi & Gindin- Between Pike and Pine on Broadway.

Ironically I didn't even notice that these ladies were all wearing pea coats until I was reviewing the pictures on my computer later in the day. Their different styles and techniques for accessorizing give each coat its own feeling. Sometimes I will buy an item at J Crew or Anthropologie and worry that I am going to see it all over the place on other people. But then I realize that we don't usually notice others wearing the same items as us because everyone puts their outfit together differently. Each piece we buy is simply small part of the art that we create everyday when getting dressed. One of the many reasons that I love fashion and personal style.

I came across singer/songwriter/one man band Noah Engh having coffee outside of Cafe Pettirosso on 11th & Pike. During his short visit to Seattle he made himself comfortable hanging out at a few coffee shops around Capitol Hill and the night that we spoke he was playing a show at Slim's in Georgetown. When I listened to his music on Myspace I was so disappointed that I wasn't able to make the show. He is still on tour, so for my readers in other parts of the country, check out his tour schedule.

Johanna- Ballard Sunday Farmer's Market on Ballard Ave (2008 market post).

I always have my trusty hometown Boise Coop canvas bag in tow when I head to the markets on the weekend but I have been seeing more and more people carrying these gorgeous baskets lately and I really love them. There is a booth at the Broadway Farmer's Market near my apartment every Sunday selling various handmade varieties and every time I see them I get completely overwhelmed by how many of them I like and end up leaving without buying one. I think seeing Johanna in Ballard utilizing hers will finally give me the push to pick one for myself. I really like the handles on this one. I'm wondering if it was a vintage find. Ah, the questions I tend to forget to ask when taking pictures...

Sebastien & Loic- Broadway Farmers Market on Capitol Hill. These two and their friend were visiting the US from France. They love our vintage and thrift shops and noted to me that the some of the pieces they are wearing here are items found so far on their trip.

Kevin & Heather- No, this isn't a tailgate party. Despite the F-150 parked behind them, Kevin and Heather are taking part in the great Capitol Hill weekend ritual of waiting for a table at Glo's breakfast diner. I loved their casual but unique weekend attire. It wasn't overly cold on this morning but a few extra layers and a warm cup of coffee were definitely favorable.

Steven- In front of City Market on Capitol Hill.

Speaking of City Market, if you live on the lower west side of Capitol Hill this place is such a wonderful quick and easy stop for just about anything. As a vegetarian it is a little shocking to me to walk into what is essentially a quickie mart and find the shelves and deli stocked with vegan and vegetarian options. I also always expect prices to be much higher at these small local shops than at QFC or Safeway but City Market tends to be pretty comparable. Plus, you can't beat their sense of humor. Anyone who has ever walked past City Market is well aware of their clever hand drawn sandwich boards. Check out this article on store manager and sign artist Cain Morehead.

Garance posted this yesterday. My vote is YES. What a timeless and perfect boot. I have been on the lookout for a new"everyday" boot and in the process over the last year I have bought three different pairs that haven't been exactly what I am looking for. Not sure why I do that. It has led to an incredibly overstuffed closet and a continued search.

It's like this coat was born to be worn amongst fall leaves. Natalie and I found ourselves discovering the dangers of wearing black/brown coats as a pedestrian in Seattle. You need something to stand out in those crosswalks when heading to work at 7 am on dark cloudy morning. I can't think of better color to catch the attention of drivers while still looking gorgeous. One of my favorite photos last year was of a girl wearing almost the same color. I think it might look great on everyone.
